http://www.cbsnews.com/news/rupert-murdoch-loves-hillary-clinton/Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch will host a fundraiser for liberal New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, the Financial Times reports.
The mating ritual of the unlikely allies has been under way for months. Clinton set political tongues to wagging last month by attending a Washington party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Fox News, the cable news channel owned by Murdoch.
The Financial Times quoted one unnamed source as describing the Clinton-Murdoch connection in this way: "They have a respectful and cordial relationship. He has respect for the work she has done on behalf of New York. I wouldn't say it was illustrative of a close ongoing relationship. It is not like they are dining out together."

Clinton has worked hard to take the edge off her reputation as a card-carrying liberal. She has has collaborated with congressional conservatives on some peices of legislation, called for a "common ground" on abortion and cut a political figure some on the left see as decidedly un-liberal.

Rupert Murdoch recently stated that he would be great with a Hillary presidency

The donations are just part of the relationship between the Clintons and Rupert Murdoch. While reporting on a fundraiser that Murdoch held for then Sen. Clinton in 2006, The New York Times noted, Nonetheless, both Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton have nurtured ties to Mr. Murdoch and his organization over the last few years. Mr. Clinton recently accepted an invitation from Mr. Murdoch to speak to a gathering of executives in Pebble Beach, Calif., later this year. He will also include Mr. Murdoch in his Clinton Global Initiative conference on climate change, poverty and corruption this September, for the second year in a row.

The 1964 Goldwater Girl Hillary Rodham (Clinton) is now viewed as a possible savior by the same Republicans that loathed her husband: shes enough of a neo-conservative to make lots of them want her to become the next U.S. President.
After Bill Krystols friend, Robert Kagan (both men were the Project for a New American Century top propagandists for the U.S. to invade Iraq in 2003) praised Hillary Clinton in a Washington Post op-ed, the journalist Robert Parry noted that this endorsement was based on her solid neo-conservative record, especially because she has backed coups, such as in Honduras (2009) and Ukraine (2014); invasions, such as Iraq (2003) and Libya (2011); and subversions such as Syria (from 2011 to the present) all with various degrees of disastrous results, and therefore she carries on superbly the neo-conservative tradition, which they represent.
Then, on 23 February 2016, the Republican CIAs (including Richard Mellon Scaifes) NewsMax headlined, Rupert Murdoch Attending $2,700-a-Plate Fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. But this event wasnt really something new; on 9 May 2006, CBS News had bannered, Rupert Murdoch Loves Hillary Clinton.
And, on 22 February 2016, I had headlined Hillary Clinton Is Backed by Major Republican Donors, and I noted that in terms of the Republican Partys top donors, she was above 11 of the 17 Republican Presidential candidates (which 11 included such people as Trump, Chrystie, Perry, and Huckabee), and below 6, in receiving their campaign-donations, even though shes nominally not a Republican, but a Democrat.
Then, on March 29th, I headlined Hillary Clintons Neo-Conservative Foreign Policy and provided (and explained) there a key email from her private server, so that readers can see for themselves just how she formulates her foreign policies the behind-the-scenes of her coups and invasions. (Incidentally, the person referred-to there as Victoria Nuland is Robert Kagans wife: she had organized the 2014 coup in Ukraine.)

(1,820 posts)You honestly don't care that she is courting republicans and stating out loud that she will consider limiting abortion rights.
You are a woman aren't you?
Do you know how hard we fought for those rights?

(21,210 posts)just need to take a back seat.
It was the beginning of people being divided by race on DU and unfortunately it has been allowed to flourish during the primary election.
You cannot fight race by always pointing to the color of one's skin.
Race and gender have been used as excuse to either attack or excuse a person, I think we do a disservice to those who fight for equality for all people, regardless of their race, gender or religion.

(751 posts)Grand bargain will be the first thing Hillary does in office. Raise age of SS / cuts to Medicare / Tax "Reform" aka cut corporate taxes / Symbolic stimulus for Infrastructure spending funneling money to campaign funders as way of explaining what we are getting in return.
Progressives will be thrown over board and she will hope to win re-election as respected saleswoman centrists who is the adult in the room and is getting things done. Basically win over all the corporate interests from the GOP.
Tell me again why we should vote for the only person who can get every corporatist wet dream? No way GOP get done without political price the stuff she will cramp our throats.

Some may be registered as Dems but vote GOP...look at WVA where Clinton would have won except for the Trump supporters that have no intention of voting for Bernie in the fall. How about a Fox debate ...Bernie folks?

(5,272 posts)message of rebuilding the middle class and our infrastructure, and doing it all by raising up the most underserved among us at the same time. Yeah, he's totally pandering to republican values here.
And fuck that bullshit line about him kissing Fox New's ass. You do know that Clinton and Sanders have already gone on fox this year don't you? So was Hillary kissing their ass? Bernie goes on Fox because he trusts the strength of his message and his ability to deliver it even when the forum is stilted, to people who would otherwise continue to live in their bubble. The more that liberal ideas, get talked about, honestly, by liberals, the less foreign or strange they become to people, the more they realize they aren't so scary after all.
So your narrative is way the fuck off.
