2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI logged in to see the state of the primaries.
50% people backing Hillary.
50% people backing Sanders.
Yet the vitriol is of the charts.
I'm not going to tell anybody to come together - I think Hillary Clinton endangered national security, and that will be the final cut.
I do like the people that I have gotten to know on DU, though. Let's not end up strangers because we were on a different side of the coin.

(1,507 posts)Is that the OP has contributed plenty to the ugliness here, yet pretends that's not the case.
Aerows

I'll be waiting.

I'm well aware that I can be abrupt at times, but I try to get to the point without being too abrasive.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)the posts I've made which "contribute to the ugliness" on DU.
That charge is without merit, Corky.

(72,790 posts)I could never allow myself to become "strangers" with anyone on DU, for whatever reason. It's just a message board. I pretty much like everyone here, even those I disagree with.
If one does not like me, no biggie. Life is too short for that, especially since this is just an on-line forum.

My assumption is that answer would be no.
Petty gossip and mockery aren't dogs in my show.
randome
(34,845 posts)Seriously. Everyone likes me. Even my ex-wife. Even my ex-mother-in-law. Plants and animals and children thrive under my influence.
It's a fact.

{Aerows, that was more than anybody cared about.}
I am evaluation heavy, so don't mind me.

(47,803 posts)My former significant otehr had one of a street scene. It used to drive me crazy because all these different persoectives and erras were mixed together in a weird amalgum.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)when you look at them. It's like the "God" part of godrays was added in after the fact.
That is what glaringly leaps out at me. Do you know what I mean by that? I'd hate to get into a deep discussion about Thomas Kinkaid "art", but that's what it seems to jump out and not in a good way.

(34,845 posts)I have, on occasion, mentioned that my father is gay. Not me. Ladies.

Aerows
(39,961 posts)I don't get confused about details like someone stating their gender.
It's common courtesy to address someone as they present.
I absolutely recall the day you said you were female, and there are plenty of posts by you that state as such.

It's pretty obvious why I picked up on a shed full of cues you lace your posts with.
If I noticed, I'm sure that I'm not the only one that did, too. Sometimes you have to hit me over the head with a clue-by-four, so if I recognized it ...

(34,845 posts)Am I brimming with 'gay energy' or something that comes through in my posts? Hm. Maybe after 57 years I should rethink this whole sexuality thing.
Nah! Just kidding! Ladies.

(47,209 posts)Because then you can have a theme song and play it every time you're about to walk in. My favorite dive bar has it and the bar tender has given us theme songs. He likes old disco - okay! So do I!!- so he gave me "More then a Woman". LOL.
Last week I gave hustle lessons and ha ha- you'll love this- another customer hacked the juke and we played stuff for free for a few hours. It's fun queuing up a song and strutting in.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)Strutting is up for grabs, and I do have a pair.
16inch shaft black boots, and they are difficult to find when you are peak condition and weigh 110.
I did, though. You won't find a better match than me and the boots I have.

(27,310 posts)You are a good egg Aerows. But there are some people for whom I have lost all respect. And, if Hillary wins, I won't stay. I'll blindly change my password and log out. One consolation, many of those who I respect will be at Jackpine's site so I won't lose everybody.

(6,960 posts)Here and in real life, I have lost respect for some who fail to see what is right before their eyes, who fail to see what's at stake by repeating the Clinton years, by reliving new and old scandals and getting bogged down in relentless investigations... I was a strong Bill Clinton supporter once upon a time, but confess my loathing of repukes and their pursuit of concocted Clinton scandals distracted me from the Clinton legislation and its long term effects. But in 2016, I know better!
The Clintons need to take their money and be gone. That all their questionably begotten wealth is not enough for them tells you all need to know. They need power, power and more power. And it sure ain't to help everyday Americans. Just look at the 2-for-1 Clinton legacy of NAFTA, the Telecommunications Act, the Crime and Welfare Deform bills, and the Gramm-Bliley-Leach act which overturned FDR's Glass-Steagall Banking Act. Then look at what HRC did in the Senate and as SoS: aye votes on IWR, the Bankruptcy bill and the Patriot Acts I & II; devastating regime change in Honduras, Libya, Syria; arms deals with the Saudis that benefitted the Clinton Slush Fund (aka Foundation), worldwide promotion of fracking, and the private server to avert scrutiny of all!
As Bill said of Bush-Quayle in 1992: It's time for them to go
In 2016: It's long past time for Bill and Hill to go
I have been on DU since 2001, joining shortly after the December Coop 2000 SCOTUS decision. I cannot believe how so-called Democrats have devolved and I, too, will likely join you at Jackpine

This is not an endorsement of her e-mail usage which in hindsight looks like a very bad idea.

(23,272 posts)I'd like to say things could go back to normal for me here but honestly the viciousness has permanently changed my view on more than a few posters.
There are some I did think of as friends who have shattered that illusion, others I thought I respected who have acted very badly to me and others here like Omaha Steve and Nadin.
The anti-semitism is disturbing. The charges of being a racist and sexist are hurtful.

(37,748 posts)Primaries are like religion in that only the loudest and most obnoxious proselytizing gets the attention. Vitriol seems limited to the 5% of both camps who are each of them metaphorically wearing lavender suits every Sunday morning-- unfortunately, they become the face of the campaigns, taking light away from the majority-- the sincere, the worker and the lay-person with credible concerns.
