2016 Postmortem

...
My buddy and I arrived at 1:20 pm. We came in the back way to Hartnell College, which is about the size of large high school campuses Im familiar with in Columbia SC. It was strange. There wasnt a single sign anywhere advising of the HRC event.
...
When the protesters would start chanting ..., she tried to get Hillary cheers going. Where there should have been voices of support from a long line waiting for Hillary, there was mostly silence. She couldnt get more than two or three people to join her energy for more than about 2-3 seconds at a time. Having been to a Bernie rally, it was all strange.
Strange. Only about 1 in 10 had anything on related to HRC. The adorned items included buttons, shirts, and stickers on bags, but there were almost no hand signs, and the HRC items were singular on most. Having been to a Bernie Rally and seen big Trump rallies on TV, this all seemed odd. Alternate universe kind of stuff. Then I saw a girl in a dress with Bernie socks on, and things started to make more sense...

(601 posts)You left out this tidbit:
"Being a Bernie fan, with a fall back of Trump (anybody but Hillary Syndrome), I was still interested in silently listening to what Hillary presented to her supporters."
No thanks.

(58,785 posts)There are real reasons why mature and older adults usually socialize separately from young adults, and it's not because younger ones run the other way. Although I know the kids might find that hard to believe. "We're not boring, but they sure are." goes both ways.
Btw, just guessing, but the music wasn't some variation on Bernie's "We Shall Overcome" either, was it?

(1,884 posts)The more people that show up in support of a candidate, the less people will vote for them.
I read that several places right here on DU, so it's gotta be true.

(13,133 posts)Btw, when do you think they will run out those big enough lies that everybody has to believe?

(1,884 posts)I'm with those than when the Hillary people say the sky is blue and the grass is green, I have to check for myself. Very little they say is true. Mostly it is spin, projection and outright lies.
And their projections!!!!11!!! Do they think anyone really believes any of that? If this is what her campaign is like, can you imagine what her Presidency would be like?
Oh yeah, we already can. She served as Security of State and now has the FBI investigating her on that.

'This stuff is the kind of stuff you people do, it's that kind of stuff not another kind of stuff!!!!'
Perhaps this stuff is actually the kind of stuff you personally and individually do? I think it's that kind of stuff. Can you prove otherwise?

(1,473 posts)crowd size and yard signs equal votes.
Laugh at it all you want
neither has resulted in your candidate winning.
And trying to claim every election he lost was rigged just shows how desperate Bernard and co. are.

I wonder how many of those pulled from the line were men.
Sad that she would leave her truest supporters, elderly white women on the outside, looking in.

Maybe Clinton supporters think it is stupid to play the little game of chanting over hate. You know, grown ups. Not a lot of kids that find that indicative of a winner. Who yells loudest.

(15,720 posts)This looks like a recently-added GOTV event at a phone bank:
a) The Clintons have added 50 appearances in CA this last week for the benefit of campaign volunteers per the LA Times.
b) The Hillary event I attended in So Cal a few weeks ago was a regular campaign event and was packed to the gills with attendees and media galore.
c) It was in a UCR gym and was way full with several hundred more outside.
d) There wasn't much swag at that one either but I made my own sign and put it to good use. They usually don't allow signs inside though so there's not a lot of incentive to bring them.
e) Yes, there were a lot of protesters making a racket, but that goes with the territory, which was annoying to
f) The Hillary supporters who were there came to hear her speak, not ape fans at a Liverpool soccer match.
g) They might have run out of the 11" x 17" Hillary signs used to mark events as they were giving them away on Saturday (nice too! perfect for door/window)
h) Hillary swag becomes obsolete when she announces her veep so they're probably not rushing to make more
i) This is apparently written by a Sanders supporter from another state so there's that.
j) Yes, it is exciting!
Here are my DU accounts of 3 recent Clinton GOTV events:
May 24, Hillary speaks at UC Riverside - http://www.democraticunderground.com/12512046962
May 29, HFA call enter in Woodland Hills - http://www.democraticunderground.com/12512083335

The Salinas thing was toward the end of May.
