2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGuess what, if the AP calls enough states for one candidate to have 270 electors BEFORE...
the West Coast polls close on November 8th, THE AP WILL CALL THE RACE AND ANNOUNCE A PRESIDENT ELECT!
They will not call a state before all polls close in that state, but they will call the race the moment a candidate has clearly reached 270 electoral votes regardless of who may or may not still be voting.

Does anyone remember a network or major news organization calling the winner of the primaries on a night where there were no primary results?

(15,429 posts)Of course the AP will take their commitments into account in the primaries, just like they have sincee Tad Devine invented Super Delegates in 1984.
Since then, the AP has NEVER refused to take Super Delegate commitments into account.
Sanders is the only sore loser to demand they don't!
