Related: About this forumWhy isn't Bernie giving Russ Feingold his email list?
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reids call was part advice, part asking a favor, urging Sanders to use his now massive email list to help Democratic Senate candidates. Russ Feingold in Wisconsin was the most obvious prospect, and Reid wanted to make introductions to Iowas Patty Judge and North Carolinas Deborah Rossto help Democrats win the majority, but also to give Sanders allies in making himself the leader of the Senate progressives come next year.
Reid, according to people familiar with the conversation, ended the discussion thinking Sanders was on board. He backed Feingold. But thats the last anyone heard.
Word got back to Reids team that Weaver had nixed the idea, ruling out backing anyone who hadnt endorsed Sanders. Weaver says its because the Senate hopefuls had to get in line for Sanders support behind top backers like Gabbard and Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.)though neither has a competitive race this year.
Sanders never followed up himself.

(5,737 posts)From Bernie's own actions, by not supporting, or raising funds for, Democrats running for the Senate, Bernie has shown a complete disregard of reality. Does he think a President can accomplish all he proposed without the help of at least the Senate? Are his followers not aware of that? If he is aware of it, but said and did nothing to help those candidates, then it really was all about Bernie, and his followers were just as guilty for not being informed enough to know better.

(11,605 posts)I thought I remembered getting an e-mail from him about it.
I don't want him giving his list to other politicians though. I signed up to get e-mails from him. If I want to be on other candidates' e-mail lists I will get on them. I get too much political e-mail already, and I find it really annoying when I get on lists I did not sign up for.

There are few people who have done more to address the obscene proliferation of money in politics than Russ Feingold.
There is also no one the Koch brothers want to keep out of the U.S. Senate more than Russ Feingold.
Russ is running to win a seat in the Senate from Republican Ron Johnson, someone who was called the Koch brothers "model legislator."
Russ Feingold is someone we need in the Senate, and I'm proud to endorse his campaign. Can you join me in helping elect Russ Feingold?
Make a contribution to Russ Feingold to show that we can elect senators who don't need big money in politics.
If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation to Russ Feingold for Senate will go through automatically:

Let me tell you a little about what made Russ so effective when he was in the Senate. Russ was the sole vote in the Senate against the USA Patriot Act in 2001. He opposed the war in Iraq, he fought disastrous trade deals and worked to reform our health care system. Russ was also an author of the McCain-Feingold Act to reform our corrupt campaign finance system.
Meanwhile, his Republican opponent credits a Koch brothers organization with inspiring him to run for Senate in the first place. Ron Johnson wants to privatize veterans' health care and even said he supports Donald Trump as the Republican nominee.
Russ has already faced a huge influx of big money trying to keep him out of the Senate. In fact, the Koch brothers had their ads from a $2 million campaign against Russ taken off the air by TV stations when they were noted to be "false, misleading, and deceptive."
That won't be the last time the Koch brothers try to take out Russ. We need to make sure that Russ can fight back and win.
Please make a contribution to Russ Feingold to show the billionaire class that they can't buy our elections.
In solidarity,
Bernie Sanders
Lucy Florez did very well when Bernie raised funds for her:
BY ASSOCIATED PRESS THURSDAY, APRIL 21ST 2016
LAS VEGAS (AP) Democratic Nevada congressional candidate Lucy Flores is reporting a fundraising windfall after Bernie Sanders asked his supporters to donate to her campaign.
Flores reported raising more than $428,000 in the first few weeks of April, which dwarfs the amount that she and her two main primary opponents each raised in the first three months of the year.
Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders urged his supporters last week to make a $2.70 donation to split between his and her campaigns. The fundraising email posted by political journalist Jon Ralston notes that the influential pro-choice group EMILY's List endorsed her opponent Susie Lee this cycle after Flores endorsed Sanders.....

(11,605 posts)The e-mail had a link to donate to Feingold through ActBlue. I think it would be illegal for him to send out an e-mail asking supporters to donate to someone else and lead them to believe they were doing so but pocket some of it.

(76 posts)But I think the way it would work is that Feingold writes an e-mail and the Sanders campaign sends it out. Or Sanders writes one that says please help Feingold.
