2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBased on nothing but gut feeling, I'm betting Obama withholds Clinton endorsement until . . .
. . . . after the DC primary.
I think gentlewomen and gentlemen are at work in bringing about respectful party unity.
I can only hope each candidate's supporters can follow their respective leaders' leads.

(15,220 posts)In fact, this was already being discussed on this morning's media circuits.
As you so eloquently commented, it IS a respect issue, and I'm sure the President understands that.

(14,040 posts)and he's been participating in the general election for other a month now, while we're still fighting the primary. Since Bernie winning the primary is now mathematically impossible (and has been for some time), the Democratic Party is shifting into General Election mode. They aren't giving Trump (or Sanders supporters) the 10 day mourning period that Skinner has gracefully allowed, they're ready to take Trump apart now.

(9,385 posts)Sorry, I can't think of any nicer way to say it. It seemed just as you said Stinky, and then, bam! right away the overly effusive endorsement of HRC runs on tv. They couldn't even give Sanders ONE DAY of respect in the news.
That was childish and petty, and unnecessarily nasty. It was an obvious slap in the face.
I am disgusted with Obama. Done with him. That was one straw too many, and a deliberate statement of disrespect which had no reason to happen.

(11,949 posts)It is not all about Bernie and his supporters
He met with Bernie and I'm sure had the courtesy to give the 411 prior to doing so.
And Bernie made his least confrontational press conference today. Pretty much telegraphed is is getting the bus after DC votes.

(41,961 posts)This was no surprise to Bernie. He's getting a great deal of respect, and he deserves it. Things can now become very rich for him, and us, unless people deny him that by insisting on taking more swipes.
