This forum has always been in support of the election of Democrats. As there is a determination that Clinton will be the Democratic candidate, then the forum supports her election in November. I think it's the same policy orientation.

But I must admit reading 500 ways Clinton is great and 500 ways Trump is awful is already kind of boring...Oh well at least I'll be able to focus more on my real world work again without the temptation to drop into DU as often, or get as enmeshed in it when I do.

What I mean is that, given that it is determined that there is a Democratic candidate for president, the policy strikes me as the same as 8 years ago. I understand that there is shift between a primary and a general election.

A few times in the past few weeks, I have had very fruitful civil discussions with other DU members. When we don't descend to name-calling, insults, and personal attacks, the level of discourse is much higher, and I often find I learn something I didn't know.

a long list of demands that will all be absolutely granted. Just not gonna happen, and he and his people not expect that to happen. The second-place finisher does not get to dictate everything, have endless demands, etc. Bernie and his people have to be FAIR and accept that he did not win the primary and therefore does not get to control the convention.

I do think he should have some fair amount of say, and we all applaud him for the strong campaign he ran far beyond what most thought at the beginning that he would have been able to do. Kudos there.

but I've seen a sea change in tone in just one day. I hope it continues; as someone said on another board, this election is too important to waste time fighting each other.

and eventually voted for Hillary in the primaries, I appreciate what you & many others are saying. I can understand why many supported Sanders. I hope we all keep registering more voters and keep bringing people to the polls. We've got to stop the loony right wing. We can only do so in large numbers.

I've never felt like coming here to argue too much. I appreciate all who understand the importance of unifying to get what we want: raising the minimum wage, higher taxes on the rich, preserving & strengthening social security, increased spending on repairing our infrastructure and acting boldly on the scientifically proven dangers of climate change (as just a few examples).

I'll be curious how this place changes after the election. With no one running, how much more will we allow the elected officials to be criticized, even if they are democrats. With potential issues like TPP and the middle east combat coming up, it's bound to get heated again. My concern is there will be more concern about HOW someone says something, than WHAT they say.

Under the hold jury system, I had a pretty high percentage rate of being in the majority. My general rule through all the poo slinging was if your post had substance, but you dropped a few F-bombs, or called someone a corporatist or something, I'd let it stand. But if that was ALL you said, it was gone.

Now, anyone can come here after the election and praise their congress critter for almost any vote and call them a saint, including one that supports the NRA or something, but if they criticize it, and they get a touch too emotional, it could be gone.

I'm not crazy about the current echo chamber, but I'm more concerned about after the general what will happen around here.
