RALEIGH, N.C. A day after seeking to portray Donald Trump as unfit to manage the nations economy, Hillary Clinton plans to use a second speech to pledge to make the largest investment in U.S. jobs since World War II and remind voters of her prescriptions to bolster the middle class.
The presumptive Democratic nominees afternoon address in Raleigh, aides say, will focus on largely familiar proposals, including measures to make college debt-free, increase profit-sharing, expand access to child care, and ensure that large corporations and the super rich pay their fair share of taxes.
The summation of Clintons agenda, rolled out throughout the Democratic primaries, is intended to provide a contrast to what aides dismiss as mere slogans from Trump, who is the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and to reinforce the notion that Clinton is offering progressive solutions as she seeks to court some skeptical supporters of her Democratic rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
Clinton, a former senator from New York who has been criticized by Sanders and others for her ties to Wall Street, also plans to touch on her plans to push for stronger measures to ensure that Wall Street never threatens Main Street again, an aide said.

(47,803 posts)It would be helpful if we rediscover the quaint notion of anti-trust and anti-monopoly laws, to prevent the continuing meshing of every sector of the economy into One Big Corporation through massive mergers and acquisitions.

(47,144 posts)I don't know off hand if she has talked anti-trust laws, but I expect her administration would hew closely to Obama's in that area.

Not even Bernie addressed that as head on as it should be addressed.
Ultimately, it is one of the core economic issues we have to face.
