(751 posts)I expect they are making this up because they use "expectation" and use hedging terms like within two weeks "or so". Another possibility is this is from the Hillary camp and I expect them to say there is no expectation of indictments.

(99,710 posts)The Daily Caller is a politically conservative[2][3] news and opinion website based in Washington, D.C.. It was founded by Tucker Carlson, a libertarian conservative[4][5] political pundit, and Neil Patel, former adviser to former Vice President Dick Cheney. The site's sections includes politics, business, world news, entertainment, sports, education, technology, outdoors, and energy.
The Daily Caller launched on January 11, 2010. In late 2012, The New York Times reported that the site had quadrupled its page view and total audience and had become profitable without ever buying an advertisement for itself.[6]
Carlson serves as the publication's main editor-in-chief with Vince Coglianese as his executive editor.[7]

Thank you in advance.

(751 posts)They beat NYT, WashPO, CNN, MSNBC, FOXNEWS, and other establishment media in reporting on the saturday interview. So whoever they are talking to (irregardless of motive, I suspect the source is right winger), their source is much closer to this.
In the era of media spin, I wouldn't be surprised if the CNN source is not someone close to the Hillary campaign. Of course their position is there is no upcoming indictment, and as result I would take this with grain of salt.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)Obviously wingers FBI agents have been leaking...That's where FOX is getting their info... But someone(s) is also leaking to NYT, WAPO, and CNN.
kcjohn1
(751 posts)Obama admin rarely if ever leaks. So we basically have two sources.
1) Right wingers from the FBI
2) Clinton campaign.
Clinton campaign is feeding the main stream media. I remember article 2 months ago on CNN with the exact same headline (no indictment is expected, no laws broken).
This article feeds into the narrative Clinton campaign is driving. It is actually good coordinated move from the Clinton camp because they 1) put out statement saying its "voluntary", she is assisting "review", etc 2) leak there is nothing there to CNN 3) Hillary gives interview saying all is well, and there is nothing to come of this. I'm not saying this is not the likely outcome, but anyone who follows politics can sense this article is part of damage control from the Clinton campaign.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)The biggest tell she wouldn't be indicted is Obama's fulsome endorsement and campaigning with her on Tuesday...if there was even a remote possibility she would be indicted he would keep some distance...
Oh, Joe Biden is campaigning with her on Friday.
kcjohn1
(751 posts)Another is Obama is telling the truth when he says he is not interfering with the FBI. At this point Clinton is not guilty of anything. Imagine how it would look if Obama was not campaigning or visibly supporting. Also doesn't help (from this perspective) that the head of FBI is republican who has had negative history with Clinton's.
There is also the possibility Obama knows she will not be the candidate, and wants his hands clean of this when/if the indictment comes, and it doesn't look like he sticking to the Clinton's so his buddy could become the president.
I personally subscribe to the theory Obama is telling to the truth and decision lies with the FBI. If I'm in this position, I will proceed with the theory she hasn't committed any crimes.

(99,710 posts)I also want to thank everybody who turned out to vote and who worked so hard for our candidates. This has been a hard-fought race. I know some say these primaries have somehow left the Democratic party more divided. Well, they said that eight years ago as well. But just like eight years ago, there are millions of Americans, not just Democrats, who have cast their ballots for the very first time. And a lot of that is thanks to senator Bernie Sanders, who has run an incredible campaign. I had a great meeting with him this week, and I thanked him for shining a spotlight on issues like economic inequality and the outsized influence of money in our politics, and bringing young people into our process. Embracing that message is going to help us win in November. But more importantly, it will make the Democratic party stronger, and it will make America stronger. Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders may have been rivals during this primary, but theyre both patriots who love this country. They share a vision for the America that we all believe in, an America that is hopeful, an America that big-hearted, an America that is strong and fair and gives every child the same chance that we had. Those are the values that unite us as Democrats. Those are the values that make America great. Those are the values that are going to be tested in this election. But if we all come together in common effort, Im convinced we wont just win in November, well build on the progress that we have made and we will win a brighter future for this country that we love.

The decision lies with a grand jury, not with the FBI. There can be no indictment except upon the finding of probable cause by a grand jury:

Within the next two weeks or so, the expectation is there will be an announcement of no charges being brought against Clinton so long as no evidence of wrongdoing emerges from her interview with the FBI, sources familiar with the investigation told CNN. CNN has previously reported no charges were expected to be brought against Clinton because the investigators had not found evidence to warrant charges, according to multiple law enforcement officials. A Democrat close to Clinton said Saturday the campaign believes the FBI will announce its decision before the conventions.

Maybe Bill won't put the flag out on the 4th of July. That could have international repercussions. Or maybe it will be revealed that their Foundation actually spent only 88.97% of the funds they collected on charity work, rather than the 89% that was announced earlier in the week.
You know there's something there. Otherwise they wouldn't be named Clinton.

I suspect they will say her choices were unwise and unfortunate but not really a violation of any rule in place when she was SS. They might even chastise her openly for not being readily forthcoming with emails demanded in the FOI request. But she did far less than what Petraeus got a bare tap on the wrist for, and this whole thing has been a huge distraction from real issues on which the Republicans should be slammed and slammed hard.
