(12,412 posts)The disparage is a reflection of the issues we are dealing with in relation to white privilege over black lives.
White Republicans demand apologies as a method to claim superiority and refuse to apologize for the same reason.
The struggle for equality and progress in America has nothing to do with political ideologies: it is a class struggle.

(15,951 posts)he should have been disqualified from the race when he mocked a person with disabilities--I can't think of any other politicians who would get away with that. Of course the GOP base (those who voted for him and support him) are just as bad.

(18,124 posts)going to show some courage against someone like trump? RBG at least said what she said, but to be forced to apologize to that asshole is too much to take. 7+years of kow towing on bended knee to the RW hate machine than has been a juggernaut driving over the needs of PoC, Women, LGBT desires for equality and leaving only bloodshed and grief in it's wake. How really pitiful our people in positions of power have been the last 7+YEARS!!!!!!

No apology will be forthcoming. SHE MEANT IT. She simply wants to safe-guard the dignity of the SCOTUS and not descend into a slanging match with the Fucktrumpet.

(28,498 posts)Justices are not suppose to be political. Their role is to interpret the US Constitution through their wisdom and intellect, not advance their political beliefs. Figures running for POTUS are political and will politicize freely.
Of course, a lot of this had changed over the past few decades, especially with justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito, who have attended fund-raisers for right-wing GOP candidates. If this continues, we may as well make SCOTUS justices subject to election, just like Congress and the POTUS.

(13,305 posts)We apologize, and we concede points and arguments and try to meet in the middle.
Until we start being as unapologetic and full throated in our beliefs and until our leaders start doing the same, this repeat will be played on a loop ad nauseum.
