2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAnyone watching the GOP convention? They're SCREAMING on the floor for a roll call vote
after the chair completely ignored the "Stop Trump" movement!
It's like watching a banana republic, writ small. The whips, wearing banana colored cowboy hats, are keeping people in line! The anti-Trumpers are bullshit!!! It's like a mini - putsch that failed to launch!

(135,425 posts)Those damn Republicans always had their "message discipline" and "lockstep unity" --even in the face of teaparty-ish assholes ... but now they are furious, divided and falling apart.
"I've never seen anything like this" says one delegate--they'll bullshit that they are being IGNORED.
Now they know how the American people feel!
Hope you feel better soon....this really is a ton o'fun!!!
This is something!
I half expect chairs to be thrown... Just kidding!
My thought, Manafort is playing Erdogan's game here, mounting a loud but ineffective coup he can squash to show dominance.
But this is some good shit.

(20,190 posts)And it would have been even lower if Cruz had stayed in until the end. There are a BUNCH of delegates who don't like Trump.
MADem
(135,425 posts)I guess the RNC leaned on a bunch of delegates to get off the demand for a recorded vote, and got them to take their names off the ticket.
MADem
(135,425 posts)The people MSNBC are interviewing aren't flakes--they're 'grassroots' delegates.
He says the RNC is not following the rule of law.

(135,425 posts)during this cluster, too - but MSNBC was getting the best interviews.
A NY Congressman/Trump backer just gave a "There will be no disharmony aboard this ship!!!!" lecture that would have done Humphrey Bogart proud!!!
