2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumEither we trust Hillary to run the administartion, or we don't.
If we trust her, then we must leave it up to her to pick her running mate, and stop carrying on like we know better than her how to run her administration.

(7,365 posts)People are questioning Clinton because of the myriad of mistakes and bad votes she has made in the past. I think generally she'll be a fine President, but she earned the doubts she is now receiving. She needs to rebuild that trust not just with the average person, but also her base, and I don't think the two are mutually exclusive.

(13,086 posts)Nearly all of the 'mistakes' you think you know about are ginned up republican attacks.
If you think she may be too corporate for you're taste. OK I get it.
If you're political or economic priorities are different, I get it.
If you think she is untrustworthy, I don't get it.
If you think she made a myriad of mistakes and bad votes because of Bengazi or the email non-scandle or some such hashed up garbage then no, I don't get it at all.

(99,710 posts)We are trusting her to choose a running mate who she and her team believe give her the best chance of winning. It's not as if we are choosing between war and peace.

(26,001 posts)But if we're sticking just to VP picks, see the post downthread about trusting Gore... who wound up picking Lieberman.
It's ridiculous to imagine these candidates are somehow more than human, and incapable of misjudgment, or mistakes.

(934 posts)I can't help but wonder why so many people are so insistent that they know better than she. It's patronizing.

(11,619 posts)I thought Lieberman was a terrible choice.
Clinton's choice will be better.

(2,493 posts)God's representative on earth and thus infallible? I'm not a fan of assuming leaders make the right decisions. Kaine or Vilsack aren't offensive to me, just don't add anything. There are numerous Dems that have that sort of impact.

(11,605 posts)I am prepared to support her but I am not at the point where I completely trust her to stay true to the progressive ideals she has been espousing the last few months.
Picking a centrist would heighten my fear that she is just paying lip service to a lot of the progressive tenants in the platform.
That said, I do agree that it is important that she choose someone she likes and wants to govern with. Even if someone looks perfect on paper she should not pick that person if it's not a good fit.

(1,122 posts)I have come across numerous posts, not only on this site, in which Democratic voters have felt not fully confident about whether the partyspecifically with the nomination won by Hillary Clintonwill win this year's presidential election.
Since your opening post encourages people to not question, to not feel skepticism, I encourage Democratic voters who nominated Hillary Clinton to stop questioning, to stop feeling skeptical, and to feel fully confident that Hillary Clinton will indeed win the 2016 United States presidential election.
I predict she will.

(58,785 posts)that Hillary will win regardless of who she chooses for VP. Sure I have my favorites, but actually committing emotionally to any of them is, imo, kind of silly. I had my say when I voted for her. Right or wrong, her VP is her choice. Oh, technically the convention could block her, but that won't happen.

(13,086 posts)She has a smart group working on this, and she listens.
I expect there will be good reasons for whoever she picks and it won't be just because they get along better.

(80,708 posts)Of course it's her call, but everyone's gonna have an opinion.
The decision has undoubtedly already been made, anyway.
