2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOK What does Warren bring to the table other than "exciting" the left wing of the party?
Yes she's very smart and a good lawyer. Yes she is a good speaker and goes after Trump HARD. Yes she is good on economics. And YES, I THINK SHE IS GREAT IN MANY WAYS.
BUT, she has less than four years in the Senate. No major executive experience. She's from a deep blue state so no new geography. No new demographics. No gender balance. (YES, that IS a reality in America.) The voters she "excites" are already voting for Hillary. She would be replaced by a RePUKE governor. She is needed in the Senate to lead there.
I love Warren. But she doesn't bring much other than "excitement" and that isn't enough. Kaine or Vilsack are much better in the big picture. MUCH better. They bring executive experience and purple territory. They bring gender balance too, and, as I say, it's a reality folks. (I am also not for Booker or Castro, much as I like them and I do VERY much, but they ARE NOT READY FOR THE PRESIDENCY.)
This isn't Disneyland or Hollywood. It's not about play time at the campaign rally. It is about who is most READY to be PRESIDENT if necessary. Warren is not ready. Kaine and Vilsack are. Simple as that.

(13,419 posts)She annoys the living hell out of him and causes him to focus on her instead of on Hillary who can then focus on America. The fact that Warren excites the left wing of the party is simply a bonus.

(28,876 posts)An insurance policy against impeachment. The proven ability to humiliate Trump and get under his skin.
Everything that Hillary is not...she is.
The question is, what does Kaine bring?

But hey, I guess that doubling up on your positives and leaving your negatives unaddressed is a strategy. A winning one against Trump though?
