Senator Tim Kaine on Meet The Press

I went looking for some Tim Kaine coverage so I could get to know him better, and I watched this video. This is from last Sunday. He came across to me as highly intelligent, thoughtful in his responses, and very genuine. I liked him. See what you think.

An excerpt that made me laugh:

CHUCK TODD:

All right, a lot of people are writing about you right now in American politics. And there seems to be a theme--

SEN. TIM KAINE:

Don't believe the hype. Don't believe the hype

CHUCK TODD:

Well, all right. "Kaine is as boring as he is safe." "Kaine is also considered kind of, well, boring," after they talk about, "He has a deep resume, well-tested political skills... But he's not anybody's idea of exploding volcano of charisma."

SEN. TIM KAINE:

Ha-ha!

CHUCK TODD:

That might be my favorite description here, "you lack an exploding volcano of charisma." Are these critiques or compliments to you?

SEN. TIM KAINE:

I mean, they're true. I am boring. But--

CHUCK TODD:

Okay.

SEN. TIM KAINE:

But boring is the fastest-growing demographic in this country.

CHUCK TODD:

Yeah. So there you go. Well, Tim Kaine, you have a sense of humor as well.

SEN. TIM KAINE:

Thanks Chuck.

Everything about him grates on me.

But Kaine didn't back down and he didn't roll over. For someone who's described as maybe too nice and soft-spoken for this contentious election, I thought he showed some solid backbone.

is an odd idea to me. He is intelligent, and experienced in governing, and progressive.

It is almost as if we are treating the election as a night of television. Which show do you want to watch? Well, not Charlie Rose--he is boring--instead they chose Kim K. 's show to watch her go on vacation and fight with her brother.

Perhaps that is what Drumpf has tapped into. The intellectual laziness of Americans who would rather sit on the couch and be entertained than actually think.

The other issue for me is when people say they want an outsider because the insiders have destroyed our economy. How stupid are people? The republicans elected those people into office, and then blame Obama for their constant obstruction every time he attempts to fix something. It is so aggravating that the republicans refuse to do anything, and then run on the very problem they created, blaming Obama.
