With Trump, the GOP is becoming the Jingoist Racist Isolationist Anti-Islam Party.

Last edited Mon Jul 25, 2016, 10:26 AM - Edit history (1)

Trump says he won't honor the NATO treaty fully. Trump says he'll build a wall. Trump thinks Vladimir Putin is a "good guy" and a friend. Trump says we'll prevent Muslims from entering this country and monitor those who are citizens here. Trump is a Jingoist. He's an Isolationist. He's a Racist. He's Anti-Islam, as well.

It. Is. That. Simple.

We must defeat this unbalanced, stupid man in November!

Clinton/Kaine 2016!

1. It's not so much a "becoming" as a "revealing" itself to be

2. Trump understands the republican base for what it is - jingoist, racist, isolationist, anti-Islamist

The veneer of, if there ever was one, of a respectable party with simply a different strategy for achieving the greatest good for the greatest number has been ripped off by Trump and the empowered republican base. They are only interested in the greatest good for the 'smallest number' which always including themselves, of course, and excluding the many OTHERS who they perceive as fundamentally unimportant).

3. It's always been the Party of racism and bigotry, no 'becoming' involved.

I think many people had a hard time seeing what they really were when they were more focused on LGBT and dog whistled the rest of it. When they were the racist anti gay Party Democrats said 'they are our bi-partisan partners and they have ideas we need at the table' and stuff like that. That always bothered me.
I am glad more people are noticing these things. I first protested Trump in the 1980's, so welcome, after many decades, to those who finally figured it out!!!! Congratulations and better late than never!!!!

hounding Hispanics or Pete Wilson's hounding them or any of the other blatantly bigoted Republican actions and tropes of recent years.
To me, Trump is not that much different from Reagan who was always racist and who presided over the deaths of tens of thousands of gay Americans in a silent rejection of empathy, decency or action. Given time Trump might have similar numbers to show for his bigotries but it's still not going to make Reagan into a righteous man.

Fact is many of us organized against Trump decades ago while 'moderate Democrats' did business with him, played golf and partied with him, with a known racist predator. I am glad they have seen the light. But it would have been a boon to the nation if they'd listened to the alarms in the 80s.

6. I'm opposed to Islamism. Trump cannot claim that mantle.

Islamism is the rule of political Islam or the advocacy of such, which is not at all the same thing as Islam the religion.

I hope and think Clinton would be anti-Islamist.

That was what I meant, but I see how it could be misinterpreted. So I edited the post.
