(1,327 posts)Maybe if they listened to the people and were bold with policies when they are in power this wouldn't be happenining. If the Republicans win they will not give a damn about incremental policies.

(14,626 posts)This is the Democratic convention. We don't need to behave as sheeple. Participants have the right to protest.

(55,019 posts)all this whining because some people want to be heard! protest is OK! we are allowed to do that in this country. diversity is something to embrace and nurture, not fear - fear is for republicans!

(4,311 posts)You are co-signing booing, screaming, and chanting over a civil rights icon as he spoke about his father and his heritage, BLM and women's rights. DEMOCRATS booing an elder statesman of the civil rights movement. This is one of the worst things I've ever seen.

(55,019 posts)seems like he handled it OK, his speech was powerful and he didn't hesitate that I could see
he certainly wasn't shouted down or anything
is there any response from him directly afterwards that indicated he was frustrated, as the title of the video says?
BumRushDaShow
(129,441 posts)and I wouldn't expect that he would saying anything disparaging about it... or in other words, he would NOT do unto others what THEY did to him.
But there are articles all over about this disgrace.

(129,441 posts)who were part of it. And if you look at the video posted in post #65 from ABC and fast forward to about the 6 second mark and you see the section where they were as they waved their signs in beat with their chant (and a tight shot of them appears at the 23 second mark). And the fucking scum yelled through the rest of his speech.
Skinner and EarlG are up in the nosebleed section so it would be hard to tell from that spot in that arena.

(5,611 posts)for this absurdity and embarrassment. Booing a speaker like this one, a civil rights icon, displays an appalling narcissism. Sure -- burn it all down -- then hide when Trump is elected, and among many other outcomes, nominates Supreme Court justices whose Trumpian views shift major decisions (abortion, gay marriage, etc -- do they even stop to think about these things?!) that impact the everyday lives of Americans for DECADES.

(25,816 posts)Bernie supporters have every right to be mad after learning of the DNC crap.
Perhaps those so offended by his supporters should look at that closer.
The news of the DNC's thumb on the scale just backs up Bernie's mantra
that the "system is rigged".

(25,816 posts)and misogynists. I believe that much of the booing at Cummings was from the anti-TPP people
because he voted for the plank in the platform.
annavictorious
(934 posts)There is no pro-TPP plank in the platform.

(55,019 posts)And YES people are pissed, they have a right to be. I agree booing speakers that deserve some respect is rude, but the right to protest and express disagreement over issues and shitty behavior by those in power is still a fundamental one that we should not fear.
auntpurl
(4,311 posts)They don't give a SHIT about AAs, Latinos, Muslims, LGBT, women, the working poor, the poor and homeless, or the disabled. They don't give a SHIT about anyone but themselves. They will gleefully watch as those groups I mentioned get ground under the boot of a Trump presidency. They are driven by blind, incoherent, violent rage. They must be the most selfish people on earth.
I am obviously talking about the extremist thugs current destroying any sense of party unity at the Democratic National Convention. Bernie supporters who understand the stakes of this election and will vote accordingly are, and have always been, on my side.
Kali
(55,019 posts)it was as you say, chanting no TPP - at least that is what I could hear.
I do think it is kind of rude to do that for a whole speech, but no problem with the signs and occasional relevant "noise"
