what, exactly? the US lags behind many nations in women's representation in politics, in church, in business, in just about everything.

you might want to check out the status of women in the indigenous nations here.

Why start the clock 240 years ago? Why not to when the pilgrims landed? Or since the last Queen of England?

And regarding other countries, the same applies. Where do you start the clock?
