Related: About this forumGeorge Will: Trump won’t release tax returns because they show his ties to Russian oligarchs
Russian agents are accused of hacking into the Democratic National Committees email servers and sharing private data, possibly to help Trump win the November election, which has underscored concerns about his campaigns ties to the former Soviet Union.
Fox News anchor Bret Baier asked Will about those concerns, although he pointed out that even Democratic lawmakers have not drawn a direct link between Trump and Russia.
Well, its the sort of thing we might learn if we saw the candidates tax returns, Will said. Perhaps one more reason why were not seeing his tax returns, because he is deeply involved in dealing with Russia oligarchs and others. Whether thats good, bad or indifferent, its probably the reasonable surmise.

(49,001 posts)I don't think Trump is astute enough to be trusted even as a spy, so I'm sure Putin is playing him, but not using him as an agent.

(49,001 posts)There is something or many things really damning hidden in those returns.
Could be one of or all of:
* Loans from Russian oligarchs
* Net worth a lot less than he wants us to believe
* Offshore accounts / offshore manufacturing
* Paid ridiculously low taxes

Any one of those should be reason for pause, but a combination of any of them would be documented confirmation of his assholery.

(15,369 posts)But George Will's insinuations have about as much credibility for me as do those of The Donald.
Hopefully, such statements will convince Trump to release his returns, however. If not, well, Trump if fair game, IMO.
