2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWouldn't it be something if someone got ahold of Donald's tax returns and they showed ...
1. Not a billionaire, or at least, not 10 billion
2. Doesn't ever pay taxes (or something like that)
3. Waist-deep in Bullshit involving Russia.
It would be like Christmas in August.

(698 posts)I haven't been happy with the theory that he hasn't paid anything in taxes/donated anything to charity, because I think his base would view either of those as a plus. He'd have nothing to hide. I've leaned to the idea that the expert number crunchers would be able to figure that he was worth maybe 1% of what he claimed.
But yesterday your number 3 occurred to me -- he may be hiding the extent to which he's involved financially with the Russian government and/or Putin himself (especially if "involved" means "in debt up to his ears."

(2,484 posts)You would have to get the 1065 or 1120s (business returns) to get the full story. It is common for very wealthy people to show relatively little income on their personal returns.
Because of this, I believe the hesitation to release them is that on paper, he doesn't appear to make much money (pride thing for him). That also means relatively small personal tax liabilities.

Does a tax return require one to reveal loans?
