Like everything else about her in a quarter-century in national politics, Hillary Clinton's formal nomination for president Tuesday created sharp divisions among Americans.

I hope we break more ceilings in the future. There is no reason under the sun why any citizen cannot achieve high office. President Obama and Hillary have made two very big steps forward for us all. I hope that the portrait gallery of presidents will one day represent the range of people and cultures that are part of this nation.
