Seriously, DU'ers..

can we get through this without the name calling. It's a convention. Conventions are wild. I listened to a Congresswomen on Stephanie Miller this morning talking about the protests. It's Democrats, she said, That's what we do, we act up. Joe Biden said the same thing in an interview this morning.
Remember how rude ACT UP was, how rude BLM was? We don't call these people idiots because they're not. Now, Bloomberg is speaking. Will BLM heckle him? I wouldn't blame them.

Come on, my fellow Democrats, lighten up. I don't like the heckling either, but I'm not going to call my fellow democrats idiots, assholes or anything else for being passionate about human lives.

The reason that conventions were "exciting" back then is that the voters didn't get to choose the nominee. The majority of states had party officials appoint delegates with no voter input. The '68 debacle forced that to come to an end.

This is not normal convention behavior. Protest and disrespect are two different things.

I do recall Trayvon being hunted down in the streets like wild game by a man who is walking free.

Gray murdered by police with no justice in the end along with countless others.

BLM is a movement. Some of those you are mentioning have truly stated they are voting Trump, Johnson, or Stein. They are rude and deserve mocking.

At the same time, seems they have simply added viewers and excitement to a brilliant convention. They are dim to the point their heckling will be a positive for us in the end. They are bringing eyes to our brilliant progressive speakers.

Just the opposite. I cheered them. They took over the primaries early and I cheered them every step of the way. They are rejuvenating a great revolution that has taken our party by storm.

Never have I called them rude. They aren't rude. I speak for myself.

Politics can be rude. No doubt about it. Idiots are also allowed to participate. We are allowed to be honest about that as well.

Their protests have been brilliant. One candidate literally changed their stump speech within days of being protested. That's how you protest.

The small group on the floor now are the exact opposite. Privileged idiots. Still useful as they are generating a little excitement and getting people to tune into our convention. Our excellent progressive message will resonate with people everywhere. They have marginilized themselves and are helping our party at the same time.

but I want to hear the speakers. I want others to hear the speakers. Those speakers help us win. Also, if I was giving a speech and that started, I probably would lose my train of thought. If they want to protest outside, during the day... I'm okay with that. But not during speeches.

Many are young, first timers. People who expected that if Bernie won, everything he wanted would all fall into place and life would be so much better (and if we put his platform in place, it WOULD be).

But I think Obama may have hooked them when he reached out. Saying not to stand off to the side just because Clinton doesn't totally align with what you believe was brilliant, and right. As was his follow up exhortation to get in there, get involved and help make the change happen.

It's how our system works. I want single payer, and I am willing to work for it, to push for it, hard. But to boo the heavy hitters tonight? Never. That is a bit short sighted, because even if you an Clinton intersect around 85 or 90%, I guarantee you if Trump gets in, your intersect with him will be a negative number.

living in some dream world of a quiet, calm, no discourse allowed, political convention. Sounds pretty totalitarian to me. Good for Obama and Biden and Cummings and others, recognizing the passion of dissidence and what we all share in common.

I've burned a flag or two in my lifetime.. see Vietnam War protests. As for the Israeli flag? They're getting pretty adept at burning Palestinian children. A flag is a symbol, not a living, breathing human being.

We are the Party of the Squeaky wheel. We scream and yell till the wrong is made right.
We look like and are all over the map. But then the repukes do something that we come together to fight against. And this time they gave a great target. This monster they have dredged up from the bowls of hell is all we have fought against in one orange package.
now is the time for us to to say to one another " pick up the internal fighting after November?"

If the protests are peaceful, more voices are still generally better.

If we just wanted a happy party where everone is all smiles, why did we schedule it for 2016? Last I heard, that's a really shitty year full of violence and inequality.
