National conventions....why bother?

We all knew Hillary was a slam dunk, so why waste all that money on a convention. It could be used for voter outreach,hire youths to canvas their neighborhoods, identify unregistered voters or those needing assistance to get to the polls on the big day. That could build up a lot of good will and convince some fence sitters as well. Just an idea.

It's for the party faithful and to convince the voting public to support the nominated candidate.

That is lost in politics. I think everyone needs a pep rally. It is good for morale.

It helps to build a stronger party and build a larger and more active base.

We are a necessary element in legislative success.

Who's going to do the outreach and GOTV drives, make phone calls, do all the scut work that need to be done if they haven't first gotten to know the candidate and been fired up!!?

Thankfully there isn't much drama anymore, but it can happen and it will again at some point.

To do all the things you say. They really aren't doing it for the money. Its thosse three thousand delegates who go back to all their counties with excitement.

Yeah its a a lot of money, but its probably worth it.

who weren't all fired up but they are now. They LOVED our convention and said it inspired them.
