I love this place!!
I drifted away for quite awhile. Between work (I am essentially a farmer and work has been crazy the last couple of years) and life (kids, husband, blah blah blah) and just getting overwhelmed with staying informed (which sounds weird, but sometimes knowing stuff can freak you out), plus honestly, sometimes I don't feel like I fit in so well. I am a Southerner and we can take a beating here sometimes.
But this has just been the most fun all week. I watched the convention with my laptop open to the DU and Facebook and I have just been DRENCHING my Facebook page with all the clever things you guys say and all the information I have learned here. Temperatures are about to drop back down to something slightly lower than the seventh level of Hell starting tomorrow, so I will go back to work. Just wanted to say THANKS, DU!! I feel so much better now! I am not complacent and I don't think this is going to be a slam dunk, but I am a lot less freaked out!

1. I've been gone the better part of a year and just came back a week or so ago.
I hate primary season on DU, lol.

4. I can't remember why I drifted away before...
I started using Facebook more and started working more. We moved and I got distracted around that time and just never quite got back over here. I was pretty flipped out last week when Trump started doing better in the polls, so I thought I would cruise over here and see what wiser heads thought was going on.
So glad I did!! |

6. How nice to see somebody rave about the place!
I suppose we are a family but we're a bitchy one. Good to be reminded we also love being here.
Welcome back! ![]() |

7. Thank you for sharing that! Yes, DU has been a good place to deal with the craziness lately.
Lots of good info and good people.

8. Welcome
Welcome. Enjoyed your post. I know what it's like to be somewhat isolated from intelligent, reasoned, mindful communication. DU is great, though for a while there was a substantial Bernie-or-Bust element that did an awful lot of Hillary bashing. They seem to have eased off a bit. I've been a daily DU reader since not long after 911. You might also check out Truth-out.org and their Buzzflash. Chat with you later.

11. How nice of you to say all those things! Yes, the DNC was inspiring and empowering...
As I told one of my neighbors today over coffee, listening to Barack Obama made me SO proud to be an American!
Don't be a stranger.... |

12. Same story here. Don't know why I drifted away but it's been several years that I stayed away and
kinda forgot about DU. Then came Trump and I am terrified at the thought that he might win. My family are all Democrats and Hillary supporters, but frankly, they don't have the passion that I do. Fortunately I got back on DU with all these kindred spirits, and now I check in at least 4-5 times daily. I feel fairly hopeful, but still very worried.
