Related: About this forumGreat essay at salon.com about Romney's not-so-gracious speech
From salon.com:
Romney was also no doubt dragging his heels because, as he confidently told journalists earlier Tuesday, I just finished writing a victory speech. Its about 1,118 words. He added, just to drive the point home, Ive only written one speech at this point. Barack Obama, meanwhile, aware of how tight the race was right up to the end, had told reporters, You always have two speeches prepared because you cant take anything for granted. So tell me, who in this scenario seems like the gracious man, and who seems like a hollow tower of hubris? Im asking for a friend. And that friend is AMERICA.

I noticed that his face seemed "botoxed", as though his meds had been engineered to result in that simulacrum of "pleasant" in an authentic dead-pan.

(916 posts)And the degree of hubris (and just plain unpreparedness) that would lead him to not even write a DRAFT of a concession speech speaks volumes about how exquisitely ill-suited he was to the presidency.
Anne warned us about his mental state!

(20 posts)Romney was still arrogant. I have no idea what Chris Matthews was watching last night.

(13,360 posts)I totally agree...and I didn't even watch his speech...but was really pissed Obama and the rest of us had to wait so long to get on with the business of fixing this country...
the lag itself was an insult to us all
