Related: About this forum"Donald Trump campaign sinks to new low"
There are so many lows, it's hard to rank them.
Trumps official campaign spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson, took to Twitter to refer to President Obama as being the head Negro in charge while lamenting that the United States needs a pure breed President instead. When she was later given a chance to walk those comments back, she instead doubled down on them and referred to Obama as a half breed. Again, this woman is the top spokesperson for the entire Donald Trump campaign, and not some errant staffer. Its not the first time this week that Trump and company have gone off the racist rails.
Earlier this week Trump retweeted a neo Nazi account called White Genocide which also featured an image of Jewish candidate Bernie Sanders being sent to a gas chamber. And now we have Trumps top rep throwing the racial slur kitchen sink at President Obama.

(53,041 posts)I should have checked the date. I didn't hear about this at the time.
He really is completely unfit for office. I can't believe he's made it in business behaving like that.

(58,785 posts)In an interview with CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, Pierson blamed President Obama and Hillary Clinton for the 2004 death of Army Capt. Humayun Khan. However, Khan died while George W. Bush was president four years before Obama was elected.
Now, #KatrinaPiersonHistory has been used more than 31,000 times, sarcastically claiming Obama was to blame for key moments in history.
#KatrinaPiersonHistory Remember the Alamo? Obama and Hillary let it happen.
Pierson attempted to use the hashtag herself, changing its meaning, but she drew more criticism than support.

(58,785 posts)last month. It seems like Trump's mostly populist base just may have taken a lesson from Bernie's supporters.

(989 posts)claim to be unemployed, lost jobs to trade deals and such? I really think there needs to be a close look at from where that 82 million actually came. I guess they don't want his base to know that he actually gets money from big donors too passed through the RNC.

(58,785 posts)though. You're certainly right that a majority coming from small donors still leaves a whole lot of millions that could come from big ones.
Populist resentment comes from within, and we know a lot of populists are actually doing okay, even fine -- just typically not as well as they believe they would have. A lot of it is generated by feelings of insecurity and fear from change they don't want and fear of a future they can't foresee.
One trumpster we know, and actually are quite fond of for his good points, designs and builds golf courses. He's the classic strong conservative who has high empathy for those inside his circle and little to no empathy for those outside it. (But we're currently inside his circle because our son is his friend.) Unfortunately, more golf courses are closing than new ones are being built. His income from that has fallen enough that he occasionally fills between-contract periods working as a land surveyor. Less lucrative, but hardly hurting -- except in his expectations perhaps. He's part of Trump's angry populist movement.
