Related: About this forumHell just froze over: Fox News now openly mocking Donald Trump
Longtime Fox News anchor Chris Wallace didnt mince words when asked to describe the current state of Donald Trumps floundering presidential campaign, mocking campaign chair Paul Manaforts claim that all is well despite plummeting poll numbers, reports Media Matters.
Appearing as a guest on Americas Newsroom, Wallace watched a clip of Manafort asserting, The Republican Party is united. Do we agree on everything? No. Mr. Trump is an outsider, he hasnt been a part of the political system, so his relationships with the leadership of the party are not as deep and long as traditionally would be with the Republican nominee. But thats not to say he doesnt have good relations.
Asked by host Bill Hemmer if Manafort was correct in claiming the campaign would only continue to improve, Wallace gave Manafort a back-handed and sarcastic compliment on the job he has done so far.
Well, I suppose its improving if you consider that hes no longer in a fight with a Gold Star family, but no, these are bad numbers, and it isnt early in the campaign, Wallace said as he smirked before stating that the campaigns are about to go into a holding pattern while the public finds something more sensible to do with their spare time.

I like 'em both ways: paper and digital, but I picked up Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at Target on Wednesday. It's the play, not a typical novel, so it was a quick read. Not a lot of set direction, I suppose because it was assumed any reader would have read all of 1-7 and would easily imagine sets.

Poor deluded fools.

Either works.

(34,661 posts)If you are following what is happening in Britain, you are seeing what one Guy with a Megaphone and unlimited money can do to a Country. Ailes is the real face of the Republican Party. Nixon's go to Guy and we know how that turned out.

It's not anything to do with a lack of money to defend Ailes, it's that at his age, Murdoch would probably prefer to cut him loose because there are certainly more propagandist ilk where Ailes came from. As it is, he's been shuffling his sons around the empire so this Ailes thing was probably the last thing he needed while trying to stabilize the unwieldy properties.

(34,661 posts)GOP,his brand has been the go to model since Nixon, and they won with that model. As long as the media is in bed with them,it is not going to change. When is comes to Murdoch,as you mentioned, been following this Guy when we first heard about him in Australia jacking the bejeebers out of their Political System. He is the master of Political nastiness. Great case study in what and how to control a political process.

(129,096 posts)and Ailes merely found an outlet to propagandize it after Raygun polished the turd and set the stage for a complete RW media takeover that allowed a Fox to exist and a Murdoch to buy into American media.
The one thing to note about the people in the media business is that nothing is sacred and people are "disposable". The 1976 movie "Network" was prophetic in that sense. I am feeling that they are going to "reinvent" Fox in order to reinvent the GOP because they are the laughing stock of the world right now. It's not going to happen overnight but they are going to have to claw back all their original policy positions that they automatically rejected over the past 8 years in an attempt to be "anti-Obama" (including pulling Reagan out from under the mac truck that they ran over him with), and try to bring those "traditional conservatives" who are fleeing, back into their fold.
I hate to say that Democrats went through similar hand-wringing after 3 Presidential election losses in a row, which gave birth to the much-derided DLC. IMHO, the GOP is probably going to pull back towards the center and kick their lunatic fringe over a cliff. They have a hard road to travel to do this but they are, as you noted, mean ruthless folks, and they will deal with their crazies in the only way they know.

(34,661 posts)Ailes and Rove took this to the next level and like you have said,we are seeing the train wreck happening in slow motion. The American public is so gullible and downright ignorant to how they are manipulated and used for agendas of various groups or persons.
And after the 1984 Stupid,we dems have suffered as a result of going to a center right. We are probably some where in the Center at this time. And many of our supporters are frustrated with the Party's lack of Progressive agenda. Appears there might be some change coming.

Many were talking about Fox News had become unwatchable since Ailes left and were joining the liberal media.
(For entertainment, it was something posted in a non-political forum I frequent, saying Trump was actually trouncing Hillary in the polls - that the polls were a liberal conspiracy. I'd imagine that's now the only online rag Trump will get his talking points from)
