The 2012 Election Should DESTROY The Myth Of A Liberal Media and Press
The corporate media bent over backwards insisting that the 2012 election was toss-up despite the clear math that it wasn't. Fox News was receiving directions from Karl Rove on the air not to call Ohio for President Obama. Meanwhile, so called non-partisan stations like the major networks and CNN, which gave hours of unchallenged airtime to right wing blow hards immediately insisted that Democrats did not gain a mandate even though they won the Presidency and gained seats in both the House and Senate.
The major networks insisted that America was center-right even though it is clear that Romney only gained traction after he began to try to co-opt President Obama's policies at the 11th hour in order to try to erase the conservative positions he had staked out during the primaries.
Finally, rather than discussing issues that are relevant to voters, the American people were subjected to hours of pontification by blowhard pundits who clearly had no idea what they were talking about as they speculated on the latest developments in the horserace while giving Romney a free pass on his multiple lies.
In short, the corporate media failed us multiple times over. An independent media that had any journalistic integrity would have exposed and destroy Romney's multiple lies and defiance of the elementary rules of math. Instead, the corporate media, eager to feed on millions in campaign ads, acted to perpetuate the myth of a close horserace while hiding the pervasive influence of corporate money in the 2012 elections.
