There have been massive lines this weekend in the key swing states of Florida and Ohio, with some voters waiting six hours or more to cast their ballot.
This is not an accident. In Ohio, after attempting to cancel weekend early voting all together, Secretary of State Jon Husted (R) drastically rolled back early voting hours.
In Florida, Gov. Rick Scott (R) reduced the number of early voting days from 14 to 8.
Here is the result:

(51,559 posts)I never have in CA. There are always empty booths waiting for me. That's how it is when a Dem is Secretary of State. That is how it can and should be in every state.
Having to wait an hour or more to vote is a poll tax. Your time is valuable. Further, it could be a physical barrier to the frail and elderly, in violation of the ADA. There are so many things wrong with it that I can't believe USDOJ allows it to go on. I was glad to hear Obama say in his acceptance speech that we will fix this problem.
