2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumRove and Romney knew that 53% beats 47%. What they overlooked:
Some of the 53% stand with the 47%.
Just like some of the 47% voted Romney anyway, not everyone who is relatively well-off is a selfish miser.

(54,399 posts)I got the impression from over that half the time, Romney didn't even know he was being an asshole.
The billionaires who were financing his campaign (including all those PACS that supposedly were not) knew.

(42,770 posts)his family had an intervention with him and told him to "be himself." (evidently, they think he has real beliefs). Although, this might have been a ploy. Maybe they knew he didn't, but knew he had to moderate to get that "middle."
I wonder what would have happened, if he never pulled the move to moderation stunt, coupled with a "don't talk to the press until the election so you don't have to explain" strategy ?
Do you think he would have lost by a huge margin?

There's an old saying: fool me once...
...can't be fooled again.
But the biggest mistake was to assume that they could spend money on TV ads and sway people. That ship has sailed. I hope in 2014 we see a lot more made for Internet commercials and an equal amount of get out the vote effort for the mid-terms.
