Related: About this forumTim Kaine to Austin Democrats: 'We’re going to go after Texas’
In a hulking East Austin building without a window or air conditioning, several hundred sweat-drenched but happy Travis County Democrats gathered to cheer U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia, their partys nominee for vice president, and revel in their buoyant sense that this year just might be a little bit different.
This team, were serious about Texas, because we know the kind of work you can do, said Kaine, standing alongside a big blue map of Texas with Hillary Clintons logo at its heart. Were going to go after Texas.
The way we will win is because of what youre doing right now, Kaine told the volunteers, seated on plastic folding chairs in front of folding tables at the Travis County Democrats coordinated campaign office where they escape the summer heat for somewhere even more sweltering to make phone calls on behalf of Democrats from the top of the ticket to the bottom.
Let me tell you, the work that youre doing and the fact that Sen. Kaine is here, the Democratic candidate for vice president is here today, is going to make a difference in races all across this state, state Sen. Kirk Watson, who has known Kaine since Watson was mayor of Austin, and Kaine was mayor of Richmond.

(45 posts)but to force Trump to waste campaign time and money in Texas, a state that he is "supposed" to win, versus working in states like Florida, Georgia, and Arizona which he must win.

(112,204 posts)That will make it 2-1 for my Texas family and 3-2 for Trump if my out-of-state siblings are concerned.
Fortunately most of my friends from college are voting for Clinton.
