Garfield
Lincoln

This is not a joke, this is our history. Those were 4 of the darkest times in US history. Trump just urged his followers to plunge the country into another dark time.
This is absolutely sickening.

(43,182 posts)....you'd think they'd give pause.
But hell, they resisted a piece of gun control reform directly stemming from that attack, so maybe they really are that blind.

(4,187 posts)They can't take our first female president away from us. That would be incredibly unfair. It would be horrible.
I hope the Secret Service is paying attention.

(19,066 posts)I have a good job, a mortgage, car payments, a great wife and a great life. I would not tolerate this in my country, I like take to the streets until Trump was brought to justice and the Republican Party gave up all power. I would die for that.

(14,854 posts)... being more upset at the idea of a woman President being assassinated?
Maybe I'm just more accustomed to seeing men get killed that way?

(19,066 posts)I thought the same thing. And trump wants her killed because he is a coward who knows he is losing to a woman.

(17,600 posts)Any President - or prominent candidate (like RFK ) - being assassinated, would be a terrible thing.
I think it might matter a little bit whether you liked their policies or not. We would be hurt more by losing Obama than Dubya. But that said, if Bush had been assassinated, even that would have been terrible. That's not how you do it in a democracy.
I can't imagine that the idea of Hillary being assassinated would be worse than the idea of Obama being assassinated, just because she's a woman. Either would be devastating.
Well, you asked, and I respect you for asking, but yeah, I think it's sexist. For whatever that's worth.

(14,854 posts)... else being equal -- e.g., I would probably mourn President Obama being killed more than President Ann Coulter.
EDIT: Not probably, but definitely. (Not that it should ever happen to anyone.)
