beating out the Democratic House Majority Leader. David has served in the VT legislature for almost two decades. First as a VT Prog in the VT House and then as a P/D in the Senate. He ran as a P/D in the Lt. Guv dem primary.

He is the next Lt. Governor. The republicans just have a sacrificial lamb running against him.

Sue Minter, legislator and former Transportation Secretary won the dem nomination.

I voted for both of them, so I'm thrilled. Sue has a harder race but I think she can win it. She's running against popular moderate sitting Lt. Guv, Phil Scott. She'd be Vermont's second woman governor.

for years. He got into politics, inspired by Bernie.

He's a hard working farmer. He was the chief author and promoter of Vermont's now defunct GMO labeling law. He's fought for marriage equality, a livable wage and climate change legislation.

well thought of by his colleagues is out, that they both couldn't win somehow, but Bernie's coattails in his home state are proven. On to the general.

he dropped it. Thankfully she went into remission. He then decided to try to go for the Lt. Guv nomination. It didn't feel like his heart was in the race. Zuckerman went for it with a passion.

It's been quite interesting watching the maturation of the relationship between the Vermont Progressive Party and the Vermont Democratic Party. It's not the adversarial situation it was 15 years ago or so. Progs no longer run a candidate in races where a dem might win, and the Dem Party works actively to get support from the Progressive Party. For instance, all three dem gubernatorial candidates went to the July VT Progressive Party Convention seeking endorsements.

A third party doesn't have to mean spoiler.
