2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThey don't want to offend Trump supporters
They know they can never win without Trump supporters so Paul Ryan and Mitch McBrainless are ever so careful. They walk a fine line, trying to keep their dignity while tethered to the basest elements of society. They can see that their stupid ideology is on life support but they fail to see that their dependency is proof positive that it's time for their ideology to die.
There is no place for them. Not even in Kansas any more. (pun intended)

(11,746 posts)For some reason I see the number as 18% approval. I'm sure it's close enough to excuse the need to Google.
Fuck their money. Vote the bastards out.

(23,545 posts)It's always the other guy they hate. I do hope it's different this year.
Guess I'm more of a pessimist than you.

(11,746 posts)Republicans count on that because if people did vote they would vote Democratic.

(30,813 posts)But you have to have political courage for that.
On edit - Who are the Trump voters going to choose downticket anyway? Certainly not the Dem in the race.

(47,468 posts)but at least he was intelligent and he had principles. He was very critical of GW Bush and his Middle East adventures. I can't even imagine what he'd think about this election.

(47,468 posts)I think that there are more important things in life than a political career. It is not like they would starve if they lost their jobs and unlike most Americans, they have other options. To sell one's soul for elected office, should disqualify them anyway. Is there really no compromise that they won't make?

(11,746 posts)That's it and they cant do it without their racists.
I was actually thinking of them as individuals, hopefully "human beings".
I heard an Australian politician talking about passing strict gun control measures in his country. He was asked if he wasn't risking his political career by voting for the measure. He said, "Yes, but it was the right thing to do". He did lose his reelection bid, but said he had no regrets. If he had to do it all over again, he would do the same thing.
