The Olympics are part of the reason Cockwomble called for the assassination of his opponent.

The Olympics are sucking all of the oxygen out of the news cycle and the Orange Faced Shitgibbon needed to do something dramatic to get them to focus on him again. The only way to get some of the news cycle back on him was to spout off the most outrageous thing he's ever spouted.

This is the new Trumpthink. It's all about him and he simply cannot stand for the news to be focused anywhere but on him.
