2008 - 2012 voting comparison

Last edited Thu Nov 8, 2012, 12:30 PM - Edit history (1)

2012 currently available (Should be over 4 million more each for Obama & Rmoney with Florida votes)
60,662,601 -- Obama
57,821,399 -- Rmoney
1,879,748 -- Others
120,039,056 -- Total

2008
69,498,215 -- Obama
59,948,240 -- McLame
1,947,535 -- Others
131,393,990 -- Total

2004
59,028,444 -- Kerry
62,040,610 -- Bush
1,198,499 -- Other
122,267,553 -- Total

Jansing on MSNBC was reporting that Rmoney received fewer votes than McLame. Decided to check and report. She failed to report that Florida votes not included. What a twit.

The cast on Jansing generally are all twits. That Maria Bartiromo is a doom and gloom witch.

1. I'm curious as to what happened to 9MM 2008 Obama voters

While I'm not surprised that his totals are down from 2008, I can't believe he lost 15% of his total. They didn't go to Mitt or a 3rd Party. That delta jumps out at me....can anyone explain, demographically, where they went? It may be that the economy was so bad in 2008 that almost 10MM people decided to vote, but, with the economy improving, they went back to their apolitical/apathetic ways?

PS - you might want to edit the 2004 results - you have it as 2008.

On edit, I missed your note that there may be upwards of 8MM still to be added to the final results....never mind.

But gained totals in AAs, Latinos, and I suspect women. I don't know breakdown of where 2008 Obama Independants went... but I guess some Romney, some small party, and some didn't vote.

2. Maria Bartiromo is not a newscaster or journalist. She's a Wall Street shill who should be confined

to CNBC regurgitating hot stock tips and RW nostrum she picked up like some venereal disease on the trading floor of the NYSE. Put her back in her gold-plated dancing cage.

10. I think the question was why you assume they don't include Florida.

The Florida vote is piled into the popular vote total as it is reported. They don't wait for a state to be called to include the counted votes.

13. Then show me a source that has it all compiled state by state with the votes.

Everything else has it not included because they Florida has not called it yet. They don't include votes for a state until it is called otherwise they would be changing it hour by hour, minute by minute. Which isn't being done.

All you have to do is look at various state totals from 2008 and you will see 2012 does not match that total.

15. The Florida vote is included.

Only the provisional ballots are not included. There are a few hundred thousand of those. Not enough to change the overall totals much.
