Asians Voted For Obama 73%/26% ..... As Democratic As Hispanics

Asian Voters Send A Message to Republicans

".....For a little perspective, consider the votes of another minority -- Asians. Romney won among all voters making more than $100,000 a year by a margin of 54-44. Asian-Americans happen to be the highest-earning group in the U.S., out-earning whites, and they generally place enormous emphasis on family. A perfect fit for Republicans, no?

No. Asians voted for Obama by 73-26; they were more Democratic than Hispanics.

It's possible that Hispanics and Asians are more communitarian than individualistic, leading them to identify more with Democrats than Republicans. But most immigrants, like most other Americans, possess both strains in their political DNA. (People rarely pull up roots and move to a new land without a strong sense of individualism.)...."

7. It's not even that. Asians just don't like the whole stench of racism in the GOP.

Even if it is mostly not directed at them and they are considered one of the "good" minorities.

Older Asian-Americans might've once thought that total assimilation into White American society was aspirational, but the new generation is more self-aware and strongly identifies as a vibrant minority community.

did not help with the GOP message, either.

On the positive side, I'm sure that this group helped Obama:

Japanese-Americans have been voting democratic for years.Republicans used to do well with Chinese-Americans but since 2000
even them have been trending Democratic. Some In media only talk about Blacks and Hispanics but Asians are also tough for
Republicans. In hawaii Asians are majority of population. To win In hawaii republicans have to be moderate. That Is how a republican
was elected govenor there In 2002 and 2006.Since statehood Hawaii has only gone Republican twice In the 1972 Nixon Landslide(Nixon lost It In 1968) and the 1984 Reagan Landslide(Carter actully keep hawaii In 1980) neither Bush carried It In their presidential
elections.Obama got 71 percent of the vote In hawaii tuesday and In 2008 he got 72 percent of the vote.

Even with It being a dem who oked the internment of Japanese Americans during world war II many asians can see the far right
and racist attitudes of GOP for what they are.And don't want government telling them what to do In private.Despite all the talk for
Republicans on freedom they want to tell women what they can do with their bodies and who people sleep with In their homes.

And caring for family means you don't dismiss elderly and disabled members of your family as GOP would do.ANother reason why clear
majority of Asians aren't voting for Republicans.

Many people know the real Obama and not the mythical fictional Obama the GOP created to scare people Into voting for them. They
tried selling that It's Obama who wants to take away Social security,Medicare,Medicaid(Even though Obamacare expands It) and SSI(even though like Social Security and Medicaid Obama protected It from automatic cuts due to dedt deal) and that Obama would
create depression(forgetting the great depression and great meltdown of 2008 was caused by Republicans)

8. Back in 2000, I believe that many Asian-Americans did support W and the Republican party.....

One of my daughter, although not Chinese, attended fulltime a Christian Chinese School for two years (her choice).....back in 2002-2004,
and I remember seeing a picture of Bush up in the office and the "No Child Left Behind" posters in the hallways!
Perhaps it was because it was a Christian school, and so these folks wer "in" for W.

We must, however, remember that Obama did have an Indonesian step-father, has a 1/2 Indonesian sister,
and lived in Indonesia. He also has a Chinese-Canadian Brother in law, and two beautiful Asian Nieces.
In addition, Obama was born and raised in Hawaii...

Beyond that, I believe that he has appointed more Asian-American to high level cabinet posts....
more than any President before him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he nominates an Asian-American judge to the Supreme court next....

So there are quite a few reason, beyond policies, that many Asians see themselves more in Barack Obama
more than in any other President before him, even though he is AA (or bi-racial).

The Prez and one of his nieces here....

Asians voted for the Democrats because they, like all other minority groups, knew that the GOP was a racist party.

11. more here on why they voted:
Thu Nov 8, 2012, 02:39 PM

"....The Asian-American vote has grown 128 percent since 1996, making them the fastest growing minority in the U.S. in terms of percentage, according to the AALDEF. Still, they only make up about three percent of the overall vote, but that is expected to grow to as high as seven percent in coming years.

Observers said both the Obama and Romney campaigns spent relatively little time trying to attract the votes of Asian Americans. According to the polls, 47 percent of Asian-Americans thought Obama cared about Asian-American issues and only 14 percent thought Romney did.

"We're hoping to change that," said Lisa Hasegawa of National CAPACD, adding that political parties need to realize that the impact of the Asian-American vote is growing. In swing states like Nevada and Virginia, Asian-Americans could effect an election outcome, she said.

According to the AALDEF polling, the issues most imporant to Asian-Americans are fixing the economy, health care, education reform and immigration. For example 60 percent of those surveyed said the government should have some role in providing health insurance.

On immigration, 35 percent of those polled said they were "more enthusiastic" about Obama because of his decision to temporarily suspend the deportation of young immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents, so called deferred action....."

People Ignore Issues.Obama has connection to Asians.Romney wouldn't know an asian Inless one was part of the help.

There are growing population of mixed Asians with whites.

Asians want better health care, improved economy, real education, and Immigration reforms.

Asians are ons ame page with hispanics on Issues like Immigration, education, and health care.

Republicans forget Bush's performance with minoritys was due to try to pretend to reach out to them.Supporting education reform
and Immigration reform got Bush 40 percent and 44 percent of hispanic vote and did better with Asians.Their racist crap Isn't
helping them with Asians any more than Hispanics or Blacks.

of racists in the Republican base and on conservative airwaves. Nothing the party advocates -- from walls along the border with Mexico to the "papers please" laws of Arizona and Alabama -- is designed to disabuse those conservatives of their racial views or of their belief that the party will tolerate them.

I would say that there is more than a rump of racists in the repub party and in conservative talk radio, but the article makes a good point.

When speaking of Asian Americans, they include all Asians and Pacific Islanders including East Asians and South Asians.

The majority of East and South Asians are non-evangelical Christians - indeed non-Christian. Most East Asians are Buddhists and South Asians are in the main Hindus and Muslims.

Take Indian Americans for example. About 65-70% identify themselves as Hindu. Can you really see a Hindu feeling comfortable in that fascist-cult that the Republican party has become ?

Ranjan Zed was heckled and abused by right-wing activists when he as a Hindu Priest to say a prayer to open the US Senate at the invitation of the Chaplain and Harry Reid.

Not one Republican condemned it.

Bobby Jindal, Nikki Hayley and Dinesh D'Souza are all people who look down upon Hindus and Sikhs. That is not unnoticed among the community. They send the message that you need to be ashamed of the religion of your forefathers.

Or what about Buddhists from East-Asia ?

Does anyone remember Rev. Arnold Conrad on 11 October 2008 at Davenport Iowa doing an invocation before a campaign meeting for John McCain?

"There are millions of people around this world praying to their god, whether it's Hindu, Buddha, Allah, that [McCain's] opponent wins, for a variety of reaons. And Lord, I pray that you would guard your own reputation because they're going to think that their god is bigger than you if that happens. So I pray that you would step forward and honor your own name in all that happens between now and election day."

Asian-Americans - those are proud of their heritage - know that their future is with the progressive Democratic agenda and not with the divisive narrow-minded regressive (stop calling them conservatives, they are regressive) agenda of the Republicans.

Despite inter-minority problems that flare up on occasions (and let us admit it that work is still needed to forge proper understanding between groups), the racist evil that is the Republican party of 2012 ensures that as minorities, all will form common cause against an "evil Empire".

to many different parts of Asia, and regardless of their varying ethnic and religious heritages, they have almost all suffeed racist attacks or more subtle putdowns from republicans. Small wonder they voted for Obama.
