Shit. How much money did they figure they'd save on taxes to make that a good investment?

(570 posts)It takes more than Viagra to get those old farts off these days.
I think an overlooked winner from these elections that doesn't get mentioned much are the advertising agencies/consultants and TV/Radio stations that raked in the billion. If those individuals weren't in the 1% or .01% before, they are now.

(4,569 posts)I'm convinced they soft played Mitt Romney because they wanted the cash infusion. If the media did any real story, or made any real complaints about how the Romney camp was practically ignoring them, this election would have been in the bag even before the debates. Instead, they let this idiot get within a stone's throw of the White House.
The M$M was appalling in their greed...............

(54,397 posts)The biggest shocker I was told today (have no back-up unfortunately) was that Rove took 10% off the top, and another 10% from those with whom he placed the ads when spending the money.
Twenty per cent of $390 million is $78 million.
Since his donors get ZERO for their money, I wonder how they will feel if Rove stuck $78 million of their cash into his own pocket? Does anyone know if he has cancelled any reservations on any small planes lately? In his place, I sure would.

(27,597 posts)Members of eighteen super-wealthy families have quietly helped finance and coordinate a massive campaign to repeal the estate tax. These families, the owners and majority shareholders of some of the largest companies in the U.S., have cumulatively spent hundreds of millions of dollars over the years in order to kill the estate tax, because they stand to gain billions of dollars in tax savings.
The dollars spent by this elite group of Americans have been used to develop an anti-estate tax lobbying leviathan. These families have also contributed massive amounts as campaign contributions to candidates that would support their unjust cause, and to organizations that mislead the general public with fear-mongering ad campaigns.
What's at stake is more than just billions of dollars in tax revenue. When our government allows policies to be drafted according to the demands of a wealthy minority, the very principles of American democracy are placed in jeopardy.
