Constructive Criticism: Why has Hillary decided to be a shadow candidate?

Seriously. No press, no big policy speeches, I haven't even seen coverage of her day to day campaigning. What is going on here?

Maybe it's the media. Maybe I live in a liberal bubble where it's still expected that to just talk shit about Trump puts you on the road to victory.

But where is the candidate right now? What issues is she pushing hard on to inspire the electorate?

August is also a big fundraising and strategizing month, so much of the focus has been on that. After Labor Day, you will see MANY more events and MANY more powerful surrogates such as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Meantime, there have been MANY ads bashing Trump all over all forms of tv and online media. Plus, TONS of phonebanks, door knocks, lit drops, voter registration, etc.

B. She and her surrogates have been out there but if Trump burps, the media breaks away.

C. She has boots on the ground in every state. I'll be going door to door starting next weekend.

There is much more to a campaign than getting national media attention. Every speech/rally she and her surrogates do gets real, substantive coverage by local media.

there was a day when it was considered that the teevee machine was the new precinct captain. we got over that.

i dont blame her for not making herself the target for a pie throwing contest. i wouldnt either. the press needs her more than she needs them.

Besides, when the media pays attention to her, it's nothing but trying to smear her with debunked nonsense about Benghazi, her e-mails, and "why does everyone hate you?"

She is actively campaigning --if one I'd involved in her campaign that is very clear. Handling the media is dicey, and I think she's doing a splendid job

During August (while Hillary fundraised) Trump has done
a magnificent job of running off his mouth, shooting himself in the
foot and generally doing stupid stuff. Why compete with that?
Everyone is thoroughly tired of Trump and his BS.
Now Hillary can (I hope and expect) come in fresh and
hard for Sept and Oct for the KO.

traditionally do, ie: August fundraising to get ready for the big post-Labor Day push.

Let's question Hillary's strategy because she refuses to get sucked in to playing Trump's game, the way all of those losing R candidates got sucked into playing on his terms. Yes, Trump is out there dominating the headlines with EXTREMELY NEGATIVE stories and press every day of the week. He's aiming a 12-gauge shotgun at both feet and firing at will. It would be stupid for Hillary to get in the way of or be a part of such political self destruction. In the meanwhile, Trump is not raising the $ he is going to need to advertise going forward, while Hillary is.

And of course, the truth is that Hillary HAS been making appearances. She is campaigning. Hell, her big anti-Trump speech calling out the alt-right only happened days ago. Her ad team has been brilliant in turning out attack ads that pick up on every Trump misstep and flog the same immediately.

Team Hillary realizes that she is not going to get the media coverage of the resident racist. They aren't interested in issues or policies. They're chasing ratings and the shiny new object. As such, Team Hillary realize that they will need to buy airtime to get their message out. The media is not going to give them the billions in free media time that they are giving Trump.

Were Hillary trailing in the polls there might be cause for concern. But this kind of concern seems more along the lines of Ds not being able to take yes/winning for an answer.

although she and others did a great deal of fundraising in August. As others have said, it should pick up this week.

Here's the campaign's July and August activity, if you're interested:

And this weekend they said she's working on debate preparation. Good. They're going to be in a Town Hall this week by the way.
