Movement underway to add MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid

as a Presidential debate moderator

http://www.dailynewsbin.com/news/movement-underway-to-add-msnbcs-joy-reid-as-a-presidential-debate-moderator/25974/

Joy Reid has made a name for herself by drawing an amiable yet firm line with the guests on her show AM Joy, matter of factly not allowing them to get away with making false or misleading statements. She’s quickly become a favorite in the eyes of a number of cable news viewers and political observers, many of whom have expressed the sentiment across their social media pages that they wish more cable news hosts would adopt her approach. Whenever her show is airing live, it’s commonplace to see phrases such as “AM Joy” trending on Twitter due to the popularity of the online discussion.

Those who respect Reid have begun a movement to try to get her added as a co-modeartor for the final Presidential debate, in order to balance out Chris Wallace’s stated intention of merely letting the two candidates accuse each other of lying without intervention. What started as an online petition created by one person named Kevin Johnson has quickly grown to include thousands of signatures within a few days, at such a swift rate that it may indeed gain enough traction to score real mainstream attention.

So what would it take for Joy Reid to actually be added as a debate moderator? First, there would need to be enough public attention and pressure on the debate commission so as to prompt her addition. There would then need to be enough public pressure on Donald Trump so as to make it difficult for him to get away with backing out of the debate simply to avoid Reid’s tough moderation. But with the debate in question not set to take place until October 19th, there is plenty of time for the already-underway “Draft Joy Reid” movement to continue gaining traction. The petition in question can be viewed here.

about this petition.

Even if they don't add her as a moderator the entire press should get a damn strong message about their epic failures -

WE ARE FED UP AND WE ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Meaning she'd probe more and dig, which personally, I'd rather the moderator butt out and let the candidates talk.

I think Lester Holt was a decent choice, fairly neutral, and in my opinion a weak interviewer.

Anderson Cooper is too into it and a bad choice.

Chris Wallace CAN be good, but he does gotcha questions without full facts.

I don't know Martha.

I guess Joy would be better than Anderson and Wallace.

"Meaning she'd probe more and dig, which personally, I'd rather the moderator butt out and let the candidates talk."

Seriously? You can watch Trump and his surrogates rapidly repeat one lie after another about Hillary without interruption on every show but Joy's and you want to hear them talk?

What you mean, I guess, is you enjoy being lied to. Personally, their lying drives me crazy.

to balance Lester Holt or something.

I get your point, and love Reed, but I think the moderators for the three debates are decent on balance. Both sides petitioning for their favorite won't help things.

With that said, hope it works as intended.

He's said so, even though Fox like all the other networks has teams of live-time fact-checkers available. Wallace will allow Trump make his usual egregious lies without comment, an obvious ploy to tilt the debate in Trump's favor.

I'd love to see Joy Reid there, for the humor of it alone, but how on earth she could be inserted into a debate held on Fox News is a...question.

of a major party is the party's standard bearer, that "the media" could get up off their raddled and sanctimonious asses and, at the very least, allow the moderators to represent the gender makeup of the opposing players as well as the damn nation.

Adding Ms. Reid would "even it up." They should, if we're to be fair, pair her with Chris Wallace--for balance.
