The thing "of value" sought: to back off on a legal case (in which monetary damages were sought).
The threat: to expose a lawyer's personal flaws or history.
How is this not blackmail?
And if he'd do this to lawyers, how do we know he's not doing it to reporters?
ON EDIT: the article also talks about how he has retained his personal "security staff" -- even though he has Secret Service protection -- and he's paying for it out of campaign funds. Why does he need additional security staff? According to this article, the Secret Service won't let the private cops carry guns. So why is he continuing to use them . . . unless he still uses them as goons.

Ive handled stuffpersonal issues as far as investigations and certain things, Dietl told me, where if he would ask me a question about somebody, say that was going after him, and then we would do our investigation and we would detersay if someone was targeting Donald on something, and going after him, I would do some confidential investigation for him as far as to deter anybody going after Donald.

Dietl clarified that Trump had seemingly hired someone else who mustve followed him, put him under surveillance to uncover the nasty dirtreally nasty shit that Dietl then approached the attorney with. Dietl remembered telling him, Hey, if you dont back off me, I got this on you. So, it was like a showdown
He hired me to get to the guy. So I went to visit the guy who was trying to fuck Trump, and I says, you know, I think you better think about this. Hes got this, this and the other thingit was enough to be very bad for that person.
In the end, Dietl said, the issue, just mysteriously went away.
Asked how often hed deterred people for the Republican nominee in this manner, Dietl said, Well, Ive always been there for Donald.
In the early stages of the Trump campaign, before the Secret Service arrived, his staff had trouble understanding how to provide security for a presidential candidate. A general election campaign, after all, is not about deterring ones enemies with mafioso tactics.

(3,284 posts)He's lived his life by bullying, lying and conning people. It pisses me off that the media plays their false equivalency game, so every time they mention something slimy he does they have to spin something Hillary's done to imply that she's sleazy, too. Every time he lies, they can't simply say he lied they have to couch it in BS euphemisms ("creative with the truth", "he slightly exaggerated" . He probably threatens media people, too.
