So Trump and his supporters

insist the whole "birther" thing was not racist. If not, why did he not go after Ted Cruz who really was not born in the US? There was plenty of opportunity during the primary.

Cruz since he was actually born outside the U.S. and it was said on DU that his family was receiving welfare benefits in Canada, and that the only way a non-Canadian family could qualify for welfare benefits was to renounce any other citizenship and apply for Canadian citizenship. He didn't do it because he needed all those Cuban votes down there in Florida. Cubans tend to vote Republican moreso than Democratic.
