The Rogue Doctors Spreading Right-Wing Rumors About Hillary’s Health

WHEN HILLARY CLINTON seemed to collapse while getting helped into the back of a black van earlier this month, Jane Orient, a physician in Tucson, Arizona, says it felt like a vindication. In early August, she’d published an op-ed on the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons’ website questioning whether Clinton has a traumatic brain injury that would make her unfit for the presidency. And this month, the Association—of which Orient is the executive director—published a survey apparently showing that other physicians believe much the same thing. Almost instantly, that survey made it to Facebook’s coveted Trending Topics section.

For Orient—and the many media organizations that have recently been circulating her work—Clinton’s stumble looked like proof that they were right.

There’s just one thing: Orient and the Association are not just the broad-based coalition of dispassionate, unbiased medical spectators that the conservative media makes them out to be.

Instead, Orient and the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, or AAPS, have been unabashedly anti-Clinton for decades. Contrary to its official-sounding name, the AAPS does not represent hundreds of thousands of physicians like, say, the American Medical Association does. Instead, the small non-profit based out of a medical park in Tucson represents a niche group of fewer than 5,000 members, not all of whom are doctors. While it claims to be non-partisan, even Orient admits the group has a guiding “philosophy,” one that just so happens to correlate with conservative politics on every issue from vaccine mandates to abortion rights to immigration.

It is the same mindset that some doctors in Texas have who refuse to accept Medicare.

Jane Orient, if she really is a physician, has committed malpractice by making a diagnosis without examining the patient. In addition she committed a felony by violating HIPPA.

... there's an alleged True Progressives (TM) site that has been posting this shit non-stop for weeks now.

You may have heard of it. It's called JackPineRadicals and, according to them, HRC is suffering from Parkinson's, MS, dementia, epilepsy, and permanent brain damage - and they have the on-line diagnoses of all kinds of doctors from the Frist Medical School & Video Emporium to prove it.

Funny how the self-declared True Progressives (TM) are promoting bullshit from RW sites with even more fervour than the wingnuts can conjure up.

Have you posted this over there? I'm sure they'd welcome the information - especially coming from you.

Now, if you could throw in something about all of the Clinton Foundation's money having been used to create a Hillary clone in a secret facility ...

up in my Google news feed this am - talking up how "the Democrats" are thinking of replacing Hillary with Bernie Sanders.

Even if their scurrilous allegations about Hillary's health were true (which I find especially hard to believe now that the press is actually traveling with her and can see for themselves) ... I would STILL vote for Hillary over ANY alternative.

As my ultra right sibs say, we dont hate Obama cos he's black - we hate him cos hes muslim.

To which I say, "yeah, righhhhtttttt...."

Have read these ultra far right things that pick apart Ms. Clinton's appearance in the minutest detail but not to critique or judge her appearance in an openly sexist way, so much as to throw these out as "symptoms" of some alledged medical condition.

To which I again say, "yeah, righhhhtttttt...."

Actually I have also read a lot of frankly ugly criticism of her weight, age, etc.

Meanwhile the fact that her opponent has been porking up noticeably in the last year goes pretty much unacknowledged. One might ask what bloating and rapid weight gain are symptoms of - steroid use?

I swear that man gets uglier every time I see him. And for me attractiveness - or lack of - has a lot to do with character and personality as much as physical attributes.

I've worked in healthcare marketing for decades. Doctors tend to be Rs and many are quite RW. Except for the hospice docs.

had a front page story saying Hillary is "fighting lung cancer." I regret I did not get the name of the rag but I think that is way beyond the pale to even say something like that.

Are people really as stupid as they seem to be?
