It's not just Trump. It's HIS VOTERS!

Our own niyad asked me to make this an OP. This GQ commentary just said it all for me. Said it ALL! This is several days old and may have been posted here already, but it's worth revisiting! Might even make you feel justified. At least it certainly will remind you that you're not alone if you find yourself looking askance at people who say they side with Trump.

http://www.gq.com/story/a-word-for-donald-trump-voters

I got in trouble with a friend for venting about the voters who have shoved Donald Trump down our throats and elevated him to a place where none of us with any horse sense at all would NEVER find him fit to be. Said I was too nice and too kindhearted a person to say such things, to diss voters like that. Well, my apologies but dammit, I can't help it! The only way jerks like Trump get anywhere is because of the lemmings who fall in love with him - who somehow, inexplicably, resonate with him and cheer lustily for him and get into fist-fights over him. It's THEM I really fault. He wouldn't be the GOP nominee now if it hadn't been for them and all their votes and all their contributions and cheers and fists in the air and nasty t-shirts and negative portrayals of Hillary. DEPLORABLES. For SURE. Sorry, but that's what they are. Would YOU raise YOUR kids to be like them, to behave like they do, to parade around in those tshirts with those hateful slogans on them, to post all that nasty icky sexist, racist, xenophobic, reactionary, conspiracy-theory shit online, to swallow the lies they've swallowed and now swear by, and to cling so obstinantly to the misguided, misbegotten beliefs they hold - in defiance of ALL truth, reason, and reality?

I've never agreed with the GOP but Trump has revealed a nasty party of their base. It's been somewhat hidden but Trump has energized them and made it ok to be Neanderthals.

Well, it's not up there with Thich Nhat Hanh, but I feel almost as refreshed after reading it. Which is totally terrible of me, but it's just so cathartic to read what I've been feeling, expressed so fluidly and perfectly.

I know there are people who are perfectly sweet and wonderful and who just happen to be lifelong Republicans so they don't mean to be horrible when they support Trump, but how could it not be horrible to support a person who talks and behaves the way he does? I can understand not supporting Hillary, but that doesn't mean they have to vote for Trump. They're free to leave that part of the ballot blank. By supporting him they are giving their personal stamp of approval to a sexist racist tax-dodging serial adulterer.

Thank you for posting this. It's absolutely wonderful.

I felt the same way, reading it myself. VINDICATED. This is one author who is definitely speaking for me. Not merely speaking for me but SHOUTING for me! At the top of both of our pairs of lungs!

I look at their profiles I see the telltale flags and Eagles that always accompany RW propaganda. Really dudes?

My friend is pissed her boy friend is harrassing her about my opinions and I'm like girl- don't unit know how to tell HIM to STFU? What is wrong with them that they need to harass others? It's happened on the streets too. Total strangers are shocked I don't have any interest in their opinions or won't drop everything for an impromptu debate. Why so emotional, fellas?

I keep saying this.

He didn't happen to them, he is the latest regression in civility and decency that has occurred from the relentless drone of right wing media.

Each passing day republicans have gotten meaner, angrier and more delusional.

My young adult years were in the 90s. They were angry and mean then, but they tried to put this elaborate pseudo intellectual veneer to their bullshit. Everything was about states rights, the constitution, their principles. The sanctity of marriage. the founding fathers. They tried to to have these tightly wound talking points to rationalize everything.

Then 9-11 hit, and they got lazy and just beat everyone over the head with fear and bullied anyone who did not disagree with them that they were in league with the terrorists. don't vote for medicare part B and fuck it up and you hate america. YOU DO NOT QUESTION THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF WITH TROOPS IN THE FIELD!>

That of course came to a screaching halt January of 2009, never to be heard from, and all the bullshit about principles and states rights, etc is LONG lost to them just waking up in the morning and screaming like 5 year olds about how everything is the fault of BHO and now Hillary.

The one running theme - countless assholes like Rush, Hannity, people puking out books, everyone making money feeding red meat to people and we sit here today with these people truly believe whatever crazy ass, senseless bullshit they come up with.

They are beyond reason. Trump supporters do not deserve your time or support. Walk away from any Trump supporter as soon as possible. Do not support their businesses. They are useless.
