First I lose Mel, then Clint, now Jon - I'm not going to have any old movies left at this rate.

http://www.rawstory.com/2016/09/donald-trump-is-no-liar-watch-actor-john-voights-bonkers-explanation-for-voting-trump/

Jon Voight goes off the deep end Monday night as he tells Cavuto:

In defense of Trump, the Deliverance actor accused major newspapers like The New York Times and The Washington Post of joining “the liars of the world” because they had recently called out the unprecedented rate at which the Republican candidate lied.

“He’s an extraordinary fellow,” Voight opined. “He goes from place to place across the country, and at the end of maybe a 12-hour day, 14-hour day, he’s as clear and as strong as when he started in the morning at 7:30 or whatever it is.”

Voight said that he was also impressed with how Trump gave “a pat on the back to the guy ran his teleprompter” after speeches.

“Donald Trump has no blood on his hands as does [Hillary Clinton],” Voight continued. “Remember Benghazi, remember Benghazi. And I can tell you this, one thing you can be sure of is Donald Trump is no liar.”

First I had to dump all my Lethal Weapon movies...then all my Dirty Harry flicks. Now I gotta dump Enemy of the State, Deliverance and Midnight Cowboy ? Pretty soon I'll be left with Funny Girl and Wait Until Dark.

Sheesh.

It's not like it is a one man show for Jon Voight only. Those movies feature other actors, screenwriters, directors. Plus the stories themselves are still worthwhile regardless of who is playing the roles.

Never understood the logic of boycotting entire movies just because there is one actor who you disagree with on politics. Conservatives do this all the time. I don't get it. You miss out on a lot of good movies that way.

Jon Voight is a complete idiot. That being said, he's not a horrible actor and he's been in some good movies.

Unless it's someone who is so entirely loathsome that you can't possibly watch the movie or show (for instance, if I actually did enjoy The Apprentice--which I didn't--I don't think I could ever watch anything prominently featuring Donald Trump ever again), it's not worth your time to boycott.

Both of them are/were unapologetic progressives, great actors, and real badasses by anyone's criteria. They also made a ton of really good movies.

MOST good actors have liberal or progressive values due to a quality called empathy. It's what makes them good actors. Being able to put yourself in someone else's shoes.

Burt plays a Nazi doctor on trial for war crimes in that movie.

I went into it the first time thinking, "Burt Lancaster? A Nazi? How miscast could someone be?"

Well, what did I know? He was fucking AMAZING in that movie. Absolutely riveting every minute he's on screen. Everyone in that movie was unbelievably good. Even William Shatner compels in the little role that he has.

Burt Lancaster was great in everything he did. I seem to recall that the McCarthyites went after him, too, and he basically told them to fuck off.

I have a brother who is as die-hard a republican as one can get. I still talk to him. I still love him, and that will never change. I won't cut him out of my life because of that. What amazes me is most people know that Jon Voight has been a rabid right-winger for more years than I can count and they are just now going to quit watching his movies? My favorite Jon Voight movie is The Champ. Guess what? Finding out that he is a right winger does not somehow alter the movie or his portrayal of his character. I think it's still a great movie.
