2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMorning Joe: Unwatchable Today
Non-stop defense of Trump not paying taxes (legal, not an issue, Clinton is just like him - except not as open)
Ohio, Ohio, Ohio - (Because Trump is leading)
PA is close (Conveniently leaving out the F&M +9 Clinton poll)
Nothing about the national polls and the swings toward Clinton.
Basically, Fuck you Mika and Joe.

(25,487 posts)Joe and Mike do this every time Trump starts to collapse.
FL_Jerry
(25 posts)I had to turn it off after the first 5 minutes. Notice they didn't say squat about FL which was the opposite of OH but far more damaging for Trump. I fell asleep watching the re-run of Rachel so when I woke up greeted by that #$#!@ acting like Trump is the "default" choice of voters. Sad thing is she had me ticked off too acting like the VP debate could turn it around for Trump.
To be fair to her, I fell asleep before I she actually got to the point which seems to happen quite a bit with her build ups!
As far as their comments on the "Taxes", they also fail to point out that if he was so truthful about it, he would have just released them instead of making up this story after they were leaked.

(2,345 posts)I used to watch "Way Too Early" just so I could switch the channel before "Morning Joe" came on. Now I just make sure my cable box is not tuned to that station before the show comes on. I don't want to give them any ratings numbers at all.

(2,404 posts)...Robinson trying to reason with Joe?. He was trying to counter the pro-Trump leanings of the rest. Willie also making the point that there is no more wiggle room in the electorate.
Ghost of Tom Joad
(1,355 posts)had to be shut down. I had to turn to the weather channel. I wonder if they ever got around to the mentioning of Trumps dissing of vets with PTSD? And yesterday they were complaining of no polls and now the polls show Trump behind and they make it sound like he's 20 points ahead.

(10,882 posts)They set up a different narrative each day to follow.
What was funny today was that Willie, Barnicle, and Eugene didn't get the morning memo.
All three pushed back with facts against the hosts making them look stupid.
Rare that this happens that these guys just don't kiss up to Americas cutest home wrecking couple.

(3,284 posts)as soon as they started discussing the polls, which show Clinton leading almost every single one, Joe started spinning it to say that she should be much farther ahead.
LOLWUT.
She could be leading 95 to 5 and Joe would say, "Why is she struggling with 5% of voters? She obviously can't get the job done."

"Trump says/does something stupid" is hardly news. Let us know when Trump acts like an adult. That would be news.
Hillary is Hillary....has been and will continue to be.
What news?

(17,276 posts)I know they are doing it for ratings. But there is a better reason: don't give Clinton supporters any excuse to not bother to go out and vote. Keep them thinking it is a very close race, and they will be sure to vote.
Even PBS is saying this, so let them. It's a good thing.

(497 posts)Of the recent "secret meeting" with tRUMP about two weeks ago...plus some "chats" with some brass at MSN,,,Y'know, keep the horse race going...even if you have to help the "bad" horse...revoltiing, no?
Saviolo
(3,282 posts)The media has been building the horse race for over a year, now. They've been building this since before Trump and Clinton were the nominees, and people have been calling it. A close race is good for the ratings, so they're going to do everything they possibly can to make sure that the race is as close as it can be. If there are 10 polls that show Clinton ahead, they're going to talk about #11 that shows them neck and neck.
The media doesn't really care about the outcome. It has no moral stance against Trump so long as he brings in the advertising dollars that the 24/7 coverage of a close race will bring. If Clinton pulls waaaaay into the lead, people will tune out because that's boring.
Even during the Democratic primary, when Bernie kept saying he was going to take it all the way to the convention. I thought it was the best thing he could do for the party, because as long as there was a fight, the media would be covering it, and as soon as Clinton was locked in as the candidate, the Democrats would be boring. Boring means no eyeballs, so they'd go right back to covering Trumps outrageous-thing-of-the-hour.
While individuals in the media may be having (very strong) pangs of regret at the monster they've helped build in Trump, the media companies are unapologetic, amoral, and completely profit driven, even if that profit is at the expense of Democracy itself.
Media corporations have a legal mandate to generate profits for shareholders, not to provide an important service to the people and democracy.

(8,998 posts)There are several reasons why Ohio could swing away from the drumph.
Many many dem voters do not take part in polls. There was a thread about that and the results were very interesting. Perosnally I never take part when they call.
So are the polls inaccurate enough?
If anything that fact combined with the Dem ground game may lead to a surprising result.
Then there is the mastermind tweeter. Expect more garbage from the small handed, small minded bigot.
He cannot perform in a debate.
Watch his seething facial contortions as he tries to avoid blurting out some ridiculous crap. SNL will have a field day.
