Members of the public enjoying the annual Farmers Fair parade on October 1 in Aurora, Indiana, were shocked and horrified to see a float vilifying President Barack Obama and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

AURORA, Ind. – Residents in Indiana are up in arms over a parade float Saturday that depicted Donald Trump throwing the switch on Hillary Clinton in an electric chair and President Obama as a Easter Island figure with an oversized head.

A public protest started when an Aurora mom posted a photo of the float on Facebook and condemned it as sexist and racist. Most commenters agreed with her, but others defended it.

"Who thinks this is appropriate for a fair parade where children, some of them minorities and girls, are marching and playing instruments and watching? Who thinks this is something to laugh at or be proud of?"...........................................................

After some hesitation, the local Lyons Club, which organized the parade and could have prevented the float from taking part, issued an official statement on the Fair’s website, apologizing for the display having offended “some viewers.”

Update: The float's creator, Frank Linkmeyer (who claims to be a Democrat) says he “didn’t mean to offend anyone, he was just having fun.” Some fun. ......................

9. This saddens me.

My mother and her family are from Aurora. I used to go to thr Farmer's Fair as a child. It was a very rural area and my grandfather's business did well, but even up into my childhood (in the 80s) there were visible remnants of its racist history.

I'm very sad that a nonetheless warm childhood memory is being diminished by this, and feel terrible that children and families were exposed to it.

I told my mother, and when she looked it up she replied with horror that she knows these people... As a woman who lives there when it was a small town (not that it is large now), she knows most of the generational families.

This is just very upsetting.

I’m looking at a picture of probably the most disgusting and offensive site I have ever seen (and I lived through the Media-ization of Vietnam)!
I am reading the countless visceral reactions from my fellow Americans, many of whom are parents with children who witnessed this atrocity first hand! Talk about scars for life!
I am also reading some of the most pitiful and lame excuses, buck-dodging, and insincere half apologies I have ever witnessed.
Someone should have rejected that float. PERIOD! NO EXCUSE!
One of my best friends is from Indiana, and I’m sure you have brought her to tears.
Today, for the first time in my 59 years, I am ashamed to be an American! The Americans I know are far better than this.
Who are you people? You are not MY fellow Americans, I disown you!
If you are so unhappy with the state of the greatest country on Earth, then move your sorry asses to Russia. Putin deserves all of you morons!
