Steve Schmidt(MSNBC): Presidential Campaign Like an Iceberg

I like what the Republican strategist had to say about this:

The public sees 10% of the campaign(iceberg), the rest is under the surface. Hillary's iceberg is deep with resources and organization, Trump's isn't. His campaign is run like a rock band tour, they travel around and draw big crowds but there's nothing else going on, save the RNC and they're not helping much at all.

He sees no victory path for Trump.

I haven't seen him say something dumb like Clinton being corrupt, but I don't read a lot of conservative stuff. If he Says Clinton is corrupt then my respect for him will go away.

he was instrumental in bringing us Sarah Palin.

I gather that he spent much of the 2008 campaign waxing misty-eyed about what a "game changer" her nomination was, without any consideration whatsoever as to here actual qualifications for the job of VP.

On the other hand, perhaps he is a principal at some school somewhere.

It's about the "only 10% of an iceberg is visible" meme. He's saying that 90% of campaigning happens below the national press radar. It's all about ground game and GOTV. Trump has ignored this. Clinton has built on the impressive one that got Obama into office.

I've volunteered for them Dems other years, but I can't this year.
Every day I get two texts: Have I sent in my ballot? Can I help?

It's great, no interfering phone calls, just gentle reminders.
But relentless.... no one will forget to turn in their ballot or gotv for want of a request to do so!

The only hope is that after they clear the huge debris field that Drumpf will leave behind, will they at least try to get back to debating intellectual policy issues (vs the usual social wedge crap) or go back to business as usual supporting the crazies. I fear that this year's RNC "Post Mortem" will probably be a rehash of the 2012 one because their crazies will insist that Drumpf was "not a conservative" or "not conservative enough".

39. His own party threw him completely under the bus
Sun Nov 6, 2016, 06:56 AM

after using him as a "token black" to purportedly establish their "diversity". He in turn let it go to his head by going on a spending spree and getting his hand caught in the cookie jar, resulting in him being forced out. Meanwhile bigger failure Reince Prickbus is still there after what will most likely be a 2nd lost Presidential election under his "leadership" (maybe no one else wants that position?).

In any case, Steele never descended into the teabagger talk and has been right along with Schmidt in terms of trying to get their party back on track.
