Cogent thoughts on election & aftermath (comment from Meep_Meep at The Guardian)
Over the past 48 hours or so, I've seen a protester at a Trump rally being tackled and thrown out over a non-existent gun, and I've seen Trump's inner circle (including his son) falsely reporting it as an "assassination attempt" on Twitter.
I've seen a little boy with cerebral palsy and his family being thrown out of a Trump rally for protesting, and I've seen the crowd booing him, pushing and kicking at his wheelchair as he was escorted out.
Most disturbing of all, I've seen the FBI's final judgement on the new, "pertinent" emails found on Anthony Weiner's computer - basically, a big old, "Whoops! Never mind, nothing to see here folks", which was buried in the news later on a Sunday (coincidentally, toward the end of the last day of early voting here in FL) after having caused such an uproar in the media over the past week-plus.
I am weary and disgusted in ways I can't begin to describe. And I fear that no matter what happens tomorrow, we will not have a moment to breathe before the next worst thing happens. Basically, as nasty and as demoralizing as this election has been, we ain't seen nothin' yet.
