After all that after all the rallies, the polls, the drama, the leaks, the 17 months of American public life we will never get back the story of the 2016 presidential election might turn out to have been set way back in June 2015, when Donald Trump came down the escalator of Trump Tower and briefly referred to Mexican immigrants as murderers and rapists.
Latinos were listening.

(9,708 posts)neighbors, mostly Cuban. Many had been through the horrors of hurricanes, etc. and left Miami to settle here. Funny, friendly, helpful and just plain great people. A recent new group moved here about six months ago and left for Miami on the train last week to go vote. Their registration was still for the Miami-Dade area and had to vote this last time down there. One of them told me she would crawl on her knees to get to Miami to vote for Hillary. No love for Trump at all.
