For those who believe this latest heinous gun crime is the product of a government intent upon manufacturing outrage in order to take away citizens' gun rights.... Well, first, fuck you.
But secondly, and more importantly, you are no threat to a modern police state bent on repressing you. No threat at all. Oh, you might kill a pawn or two when the shocktroops come for you, but you and your arsenal of which you are so proud are little more than a speed bump, should real tyranny ever arrive.
You see, you have let the intent of the Founders with respect to the armed defense of liberty die on the vine. The Second Amendment has two clauses and the one that matters, about a well regulated militia being essential to the security of a free state, is dead.
You do not know your neighbors. Only a few percent of you ever belonged to the military and learned the use of arms in concert with comrades. You are well armed, but regulated not at all (regulations are not the same thing, or what the Founders meant) and unready, despite your range time, should the balloon go up.
And you have howled that guns should be freely available "because freedom" or some shit. And here we are. Crazy plus modern firepower equals slaughter on a scale unimaginable to the Founders, whose best warriors could muster maybe four rounds per minute with questionable accuracy, and for whom the Boston Massacre that galvanized a revolution killed FIVE.
You have a right to guns. But you have a responsibility to see that they really are used in defense of liberty and not like this. And no, the answer is not arming everyone 24/7. Those handguns will also not stop a government gone rogue, though their stray rounds will kill more Americans.
It's time to examine in earnest how we use guns in a context of the defense of liberty. There are nations that have little gun crime but freedoms equal to our own. Have we merely fed a tribal beast's thirst for arms? Should guns not be used as the Founders intended, to be mobilized en masse to combat tyranny?
